Why is it so much harder for me to quit

Why is it so much harder for me to quit alcohol than cigarettes? I smoked a pack a day and quickly weened myself off ten years ago. I can’t go a day without 2 bottles of wine :frowning:

Nicotine is physically addictive but doesn't have that much of an impact on our mental faculties. Alcohol is another matter entirely.

Ask yourself, why do you drink? Is it to change how you feel and how you see the world?

For some of us, we drank so we could feel something other than what we were actually feeling (or to feel nothing at all). One of the hard things about getting sober is having to face all those feelings you have been blotting out with booze.

That might be a hard pill to swallow but something tells me drinking two bottles of wine a day is not making you feel all that great about yourself either.

Maybe it's time to try a different path.

Take it easy... baby steps! 1 day turns into 2 and so on. I'm on the second day and everything in my body is telling me to take a drink, but just have to remember. Who's the boss? Fight the feeling! Stay positive
