Wisdom teeth removal

Today I got oral surgery and had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once. I was prescribed an opioid pain medication. I don’t plan on taking this since I was addicted to blues and had a hard time getting off them. Opiates are such a strong substance, your brain literally puts them before your basic needs. I definitely don’t want to mess anything up. This is the longest I have been sober in 5 years!! I don’t want to start the cycle again. Today was only Day 1 so hopefully the rest of the week the pain will be tolerable….

What are your guys thoughts on this ? Im afraid my pain will get so bad Ill have no choice but to turn to the medication

Try tylenol and ibuprofen. It helps but very proud of for putting your recovery first.

They have what is called Advil dual, it’s Tylenol and Advil in one best thing I ever found for my constant pain and I can’t take pain meds either, you can do this :muscle::muscle:

Last time I had kidney stones I combined extra strength Tylenol with Aleve, and that worked pretty well. Make sure to eat or at least drink shakes though because otherwise your stomach will get real upset and you won't feel good. Hang in there!

I had all 4 removed yrs ago. I don't remember what they prescribed but never needed them. I just remember chewing supper slow.
Best of luck

Got mine removed a decade ago with just a numbing shot and then drove 3 hours away for work. Ice cubes helped, but ultimately, just tell yourself you’re not in pain. Be wary of dry sockets.

I had the same thing a couple months ago. Mine were very painful but advil was enough. I had a root canal and some other serious work while in prison and they don't even give you advil lol. You can muscle through, it's not worth it. What you should do next time you have anything like this is tell the Dr immediately that you can't have narcotics because you are in recovery and they respect it a lot. I take pride in telling them honestly. My DOC is opiates so the temptation is def there when I go to the Dr or dentist but it just feels so good to just tell them and not have to worry about it. Flush them honestly. I know I would just end up justifying the pain to take one then I'd be off to the races and lose everything I have again. Just me sharing my 2 ¢'s :raised_hands:t3:

I don't know what they do today but mine were stitched. After a few days the stitches started to get in the way. No pain but felt weird. Best of luck
