Woke at 2:28am last night and had the biggest spiritual breakthrough of my sobriety. As I laid in bed, stomach bubbly, I tried to meditate. I checked my phone to see what time it was, 2:28am. I saw that I had a text message so I opened it. Was from a friend about an hour earlier. I messaged back. I telling them what was going on in my head. Then I got up and sat on the floor. I began to meditate
. I was trying to calm my anxiety and focusing on my gut area. Then I heard a reply text message sound. I got up to look. They had replied. As I began to answer the reply something came over me and I began to relive past trauma from the ages 13-14 and into the 15-17. As I typed away I suddenly started to realize that I had never processed this trauma ever. And that this could be the reason I’m always stuck in flight mode! Especially when I don’t get my way in life. I begin to plan an escape as to not deal with it. During this texting back an forth I was consciously concentrating on the 2nd chakra location which is our adrenal glands. They are located above the gut area. As I began to focus on them my stomach slowed down the bubbling and I felt slightly at ease. I definitely have some work to do in this area of my life. I’m not cured, but I do believe I’m on to something here. I would tell myself that I’m safe, I’m ok, everything is fine. I’m not in any danger or trouble. That seemed to help as well. This new development in my sobriety just might be a game changer. I’ve been dealing with gut issues for a very long time. Before I ever was an alcoholic. Lately I convinced myself it was from gluten, or soy, or certain types of oils in the foods. I felt like I was getting somewhere and then all the symptoms came back as if I had to eaten one or all of the things I that I couldn’t have…. This caused so much discomfort, sleepless nights and anxiety, stress and irritability that would then lash out into other areas of my life…. I just want to be ok. To eat healthy and to sleep a good night sleep and to not feel the bloating and discomfort. It’s definitely apparent to me now that for all those years I had masked those symptoms with alcohol as I feel it give me that ease and comfort I needed to live. I’m excited as now I’m going to dig deeper into my past trauma and continue to deepen my meditation practice. This has to be the way out.
Nice Kevin. Thanks for sharing. I can relate to the constant flight mode. The quickest way is always through.
Welcome Brother. I’m trying to learn how to turn it off…
When I first saw this post it was 2:28 am
Keith, Spirit world is communicating with you. Do you have any similarities in my story? God works in mysterious ways.
Hi Kevin. My only similarities to your story is that I have recently started meditating as a tool to deal with anxiety like yourself. The message may be as simple as keep up what I'm doing and I will find hidden truths I have also buried under years of alchohol abuse
Keith, that’s wonderful news! Meditation has helped me look inwards for the answers to why I am the way I am. Keep up the good work. I can say it’s difficult at first to stay focused. My mind wondered a lot in the beginning and it still does but I’m quick to bring it back without judgment or being super critical of myself.
