I went to my first women’s meeting today and I have to say it was the best meeting I have ever been to. They were so welcoming and fun and they even invited me to dinner after. This is what I was looking for from AA, and I’m happy I’m finally getting to find it. For the girls, go to women’s meetings and find other sober women because there’s such a fellowship of women within the AA community and I think that’s what I’m going to center my meetings around.

The same can be said for men’s meetings. All the tough guy stuff is checked at the door. Men can cry too!

I regularly attend a SMART recover woman’s Saturday morning 8am PST. It’s really great.
SMART’s site is a little tricky to figure out, but well with it. The support and information I receive is important and really helps with my recovery
I’ve been sober from alcohol for 20 years and abstinent from purging for 17. Last summer I “lapsed” into anorexic disordered eating during an extremely stressful few months. I’m working my way out but couldn’t do it without the tools of SMART and therapy and friends.
The stress continues (getting a divorce after an 18 year relationship) and I’m able to be abstinent now.
I’m getting healthy and am able to show up for my life. Sobriety is a gift and a challenge. Loving it!

I tried a couple of meetings for both sexes before and had 2 different guys creeping on me in both meetings. First of all I didn't get it because I was looking ROUGH and I was clearly vulnerable. It totally put me off and made me sense a predatory nature to the place. I could just be overly sensitive about that kind of thing, but anyway you've inspired me to give the women's group a shot.

I would really recommend it I actually cried earlier that day because I was getting discouraged and then I went to that meeting and it changed my mind completely
