That’s easy find and get yourself to a AA meeting, the rest is the work.
I agree , I've learned alot going to meetings, now I have to go and my sponsor helps me ŵork the steps.Remember you don't have to rush through it, you are going to be recovering the rest of your life
Hi Erline, the 12 steps can be daunting but just take it step by step. I agree completely that an AA meeting is a great way to start and work the program! Let me know if you need any help finding one in your area!
Working the 12 steps is easy.
First off don't get overwhelmed. Take them at face value. Don't masterbate them in your mind.
The first step is simple. If you've admitted to yourself that you're an alcoholic. Then you know your life is unmanageable. BAMM you just completed the 1st step.
2nd step... Came to believe. Stop right there go no further. We all have to believe in something. Whether it be the ceiling fan, electricity it doesn't matter. Just believe in something greater than yourself. Once you've come to believe in what ever it is that's greater than you then you've completed the 2nd step. Boom!!
3rd step... (Here is where willingness comes into play.)
Be willing, making a decision, to turn your will and your life over to the care of God AS YOU UNDERSTAND HIM. Here is where you can create/make your own God.. If the God thing trips you up then be willing to turn it over "to whomever this may concern". The key is...as you understand him. Not as I or anyone else understands him but YOU. You're understanding may be different than mine or others. Once you get to that point then BAMM you've completed step 3.
Pretty simple. The rest of the steps are all about you. When you're ready to do the 4th, 5th and so on let me know. I'll walk you through them.
It's real easy. You got this.
I have faith in you.
Trust me when I say this. If I can do it so can you.
