Yesterday my cousin Steph asked me if I could go

Yesterday my cousin Steph asked me if I could go over and help mount her TV. So I went, it was noon. When she opened the door for me I smelled straight liquor fumes. I became resentful towards her and fear for myself because, unlike me she can control her alcohol and she knows I’m in recovery. Well I helped mount her TV and off I went.
This morning she called me very anxiously and asking for me to go over because she could not be alone and she felt hungover to the max, how she put it. So I went. It was 6am, the place still smelling of alcohol and her looking very different than yesterday, she was defeated. I helped her clean up house. We got her rehydrated, we talked to calm her down. Steph had been binge drinking since Friday morning. Not like her at all. But she lives alone now. I asked her if there was a reason, and she simply said this, and it made sense to me because I would do this. “I drank to have fun but I got drunk and woke up hungover; so I drank to feel better but over-exceeded again and again.” I would drink to “cure” my hangovers but I was just extending them causing more damage. I love you Steph.
