Hi, 20 days sober. Trying to deal with a lot. My husband and I just got married in November. We’ve been together for 7 years. Dating and drinking socially at first became an every day thing. Long story short, my husband gets violent and abusive when drunk. 22 days ago he poured boiling hot water on me and I had to call the ambulance for myself. I had to report him and we cannot communicate until the hearing. I’m staying with my mother on her couch. Been sober since I’ve been here. Feeling like a shell of a human being. Some days are better than others. I somehow managed to get a new better paying job but I honestly don’t even care. Emotions are all over the place. Trying to get my life together but getting motivated seems impossible. I can’t sleep and always tired. Wondering if it’s because of my sobriety. Hoping things will get better in time. Hoping I can handle this new job. I feel like I can’t focus on anything. Hoping I can pull myself together. Praying this will pass..
Stay strong and focused! Be positive and know the best is yet to come! Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations

Thank you so much
Take it a day at a time. Don't be too hard on yourself and focus on the good that sobriety can bring you. It's not going to be easy but it will be worth it. You aren't alone

It will pass and things will get better, as long as you truly want it. Never forget why you decided to stop. For me, it was the best decision I've ever made.
Thinking of you and sending all the strength and vibes
I'd say the sleeplessness is from you situation. I've only been sober a week but I slept pretty well over the weekend. Hate you're going through all of this. Feel free to reach out if you'd like. My mom's family is from the Burg. My dad's family is from Slippery Rock.
So sorry, been sober for 7 months and didn't sleep either at first, get to some meetings if you can, maybe talk to a counselor,I did, it helped me with the depression.have faith in yourself.
So sorry to hear about the situation but thank God you were able to get away & that you’re strong enough to do so💪🏼 you’ve got this! I’m here to talk if you ever need anything
Stay strong. And out of that dangerous situation. You are in a better place and with sobriety every day will get better. Not easier necessarily but better in that you will be mindful and there in in better health to tackle it all head on.
Hi Trent. Thank youu! Luckily I have family here. I don’t know what I’d do without them. I’m very blessed.
Your situation is heartbreaking. I’m so sad for what you’re going thru, but I’m glad ur away from him. I too had an abusive drunk husband and I drank as well to try to cope.
Try to focus on you. You’re away from his negative presence so use the time to establish some coping mechanisms for yourself. You’re probably tired because u haven’t really slept in ages. Try to rest ur spirit w prayer, yoga, meditation, music, silence, journaling, whatever you need. Take a walk outside, enjoy the sunshine, the little things. Resist the urge to figure it all out. Just be. It does get better. Give yourself some grace. Sobriety will bring you so much joy and its awareness and perspective bring opportunities for real change. I understand it’s overwhelming right now. You’re doing great. Just breathe. God bless u😊
Hi Vicki. Thank you so much for you kind words. It’s nice to see that there’s someone that has shared the same experiences. It’s been challenging to only focus on myself but I’m learning. I truly appreciate all of your suggestions.
Wow you’ve quite a lot to deal with at the moment. Everybody would feel exhausted and overwhelmed in your shoes. And not being able to sleep makes stuff even harder to deal with. Sobriety will help you so much with all this eventually, so keep it on the top spot of your priority list, before your new job, your family, anything. As for insomnia, I didn’t sleep well either the first few weeks after the last drink. I find that listening to audiobooks on reduced speed and very low volume works well. It’s like someone reading you a good night story, keeps the mind from ruminating. I finally also switched completely to decaf, and it makes a big difference. I really hope things will get better for you soon, stay strong! You got this
Early sobriety I didn’t sleep at all for 3 weeks. My father was an abusive alcoholic. I hope you do well in your new job and find yourself.
Yesss I actually have been listening to audio books while I sleep and I found it’s the only thing that’s been working. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. It means so much
Good to know I’m not the only one. I’m so sorry you had to deal with an abusive alcoholic as a child. I couldn’t image. I feel for you. I’m so glad you chose to not adopt the same patterns. Thank you so much
Ty it gets easier. How long have you been sober
I hope so. 21 days. You?
