Acknowledging that you are having panic attacks is amazing self-awareness and asking for help is a great first step.

If you can, give yourself a few minutes of quiet to breathe. And I mean really breathe. Focus on each breath. It's not easy and it takes some practice but it gives your mind and your body a chance to get past the overload you are experiencing.

And when it does pass (and it will), give yourself credit for recognizing it and addressing it. What you are feeling is very real and learning to work through it is a sign of reseliance.

Dunk your face or head in ice water or hold an ice pack to your chest or the back of your neck. It helps so so much!!

Panic attacks could be early signs of dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Depending on how much and how long you have been drinking. Don’t be afraid to go to the ER if you have to, they are way more understanding than you would expect. I did it, and it saved my life.

Find a quiet and safe place, turn down the lights and turn on light instrumental only music or meditation music. Take deep controlled breaths and relax

Remember, you only have to make it until bedtime and your day is over….

whenever i get panic attacks, i know my body is sending me a message that things aren’t right in some way. it usually calls for a long walk, time away from phone and tv, good food and good sleep, and an honest conversation with myself about what i need to alter in my life + what/who i need to confront

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I’ve been dealing with anxiety/panic attacks for the last couple of days. It seems to always hit me when I get out of my routine. Just know that you’re not alone and it will go away. Going for a walk with someone if possible or by yourself and call a friend. This almost always at least lessons the level of anxiety for me. Makes it more tolerable until it goes away.
Much peace to you

Hi I don’t know how long you have in sobriety but it definitely can be part of withdrawals. Try to listen to quiet music or meditation and if you feel yourself getting worse there is nothing wrong with going to ER. Anxiety and panic attacks can be really unbearable and you may need medication. Stay strong reach out and please keep us posted. We have probably all been there I know I was.:pray::heart:

If i dont take my prosac im a nightmare to deal with highs and lows i take 10 mg have for years

Yes, like other people have said if you are new to sobriety and you are having bad panic attacks you might try an ER or a detox. If you have gone beyond the detox phase then I usually try to call or talk to someone I trust to discuss with them what is going on. Also breathing and walks are helpful for me. Hang in there!

Pray hard

Do you have someone to sit with? There is no place your panic can take you that your higher power isn’t already and won’t let anything happen to you. You don’t have to understand it. Not your job. Get yourself a cold rag, sunshine if it’s daylight and if a smell makes you feel good, smell it. I’m serious. I used to have them a lot. These things helped me. I hope you feel better soon <3

I ice myself. The Vegus nerve in our body plays a huge part in the physical aspect of panic. By stimulating it with ice you can calm the fight or flight hormones in your body. Ice pack to the back of your neck or chest or dunk your head in ice water. It really works
