Am I in the right place?

I am coming down from Meth use. Is this app for people recovering from drug use or just alcohol? I know alcohol is a drug too but, I am a alcoholic that used Meth to get off drinking beer now I'm trying to get off Meth. Lost? Am I in the right place?

Yes you’re in the right place.. I wasn’t on meth but I was on crack.. I quit drinking because I was going blind.. so I replaced it with drugs.. just have faith in God and ask Him for help and the strength to get off of it all.. prayers

Right place for support.
Wrong place for a solution.
AA for alcoholism
NA for drug addiction

Personally, I think AA is fine for either. I have no problem hearing about drugs in AA and I've been around AA since early 90's. Alcohol is a drug and there are at least 2 stories in the Big Book that include drug addiction.

For solution? I don't understand? Can you explain

You are in the right place. This is a great app for people that have addiction issues. I understand what your going through I used meth years ago and have also struggled with alcohol. We can’t do recovery alone. Have you ever considered AA or NA it’s a great start.

Yes I attend meetings

I got out of detox Monday and already had a few slips. I went to two meetings this week and I see people who are really doing well and I’m going to dive in to my recovery and I have to change or suffer and I’m going to choose life. I’m starting IOP on Wednesday and I’m going to get to a meeting on a daily basis. IM ALL IN!

The detoxing process is a lot congratulations for just doing that part...

Be glad to.

I'm going to paste something here that comes from a chapter in the AA textbook entitled,

"The Doctor's Opinion."

Included you will find 3 points.

  1. The reason we drink and/or use drugs.

  2. Why we find it impossible to stop.

  3. The solution.

Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are

  1. restless, irritable and discontented

unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks—drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the

  1. phenomenon of craving develops,

they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an

  1. entire psychic change

there is very little hope of his or her recovery.”

We an Alcoholics Anonymous have found that this psychic change is acquired by taking the 12 steps in Alcoholics Anonymous. We show up at a lot of meetings and we learn from others how to live one day at a time without picking up a drink or a drug.

This app is a great app for talking with others and getting support from people but it doesn't really have the components that are required in order to obtain this psychic change that is talked about in the above reading.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope this helps.

In addition to my long comment above I would also like to pass something on to you. If you follow this link it will take you to the promises of AA. These promises apply to anyone that is addicted to alcohol or drugs. It really doesn't matter because alcohol itself is a drug.

Thank you

I can't wait I'm so excited we have promises

i hate alcohol. i’m here for dope.

A drug is a drug is a drug. I identify as an alcoholic and an addict. It’s all the same to me.
