Any tips to stay busy? I’m so bored not drinking

Any tips to stay busy? I’m so bored not drinking but I don’t feel motivated to get up and going. Super behind on work & other things just don’t know where to start. I’m craving a shot.

A good run always helps.

I suggest walking. Get some tunes or audiobook. Helped me get out of my head.

What I did was , Start with the easiest thing . Write down what you have to do from easiest to hardest. Every time you finish something turn on some light music and set a timer to take a break. The easiest way to do something is to just start doing it.

Go outside! When I'm dealing with my depression I try to at least get myself outside and just sit in the sun and enjoy the fresh air if I don't feel like walking. I also make a list of 3 things I can accomplish that day - even little things like making my bed or cooking a healthy meal. Usually this helps me gain momentum to accomplish other things that may have felt more overwhelming. You got this!

Find one small thing you can start with, for me it was going for a walk, and just keep doing that one thing and it’ll build up

I'm with Chloe, it has to be special not everyday. Shop for it and put all together. If you have them cloth napkins, if not use fancy dinner napkins. Go all out.
Then go for a walk to burn off the special dessert you picked up.
Then you can tell when to be there for dinner lol

You can also hit a trail for a hike. Now is close to nice foliage and cooler temps.

A walk, sober friends, reading, cooking

Phoenix is a sober activity group and they have branches all over the US. They have everything from hiking, rock climbing, art, dance, yoga, kayaking. You name it, they likely have that event. Its completely free, and the only requirement is 48 hours of sobriety. I started traveling for work when I only had two months sober, and I've been able to find a phoenix nearly everywhere I went. Celebrated 14 months 2 weeks ago and have never had more fun being sober. Everyone is super friendly and its a great way to build a sober community for yourself.

Find a hobby. I struggle with the motivation to start something too. I find once I start, I get my motivation back and feel better. I just hit 7 months and the "pink cloud" has worn off and has caused me to be in a funk. Push yourself and you should feel better! Hope this helps!

Go “inside”: do the inner spiritual work and learn to meditate. It will take forty days of practicing a few minutes a day. Set a timer. Best tool you will ever give yourself.

Being outside helps so much! 🫶🏽

Go to an AA meeting and help another drunk stay sober.
