Been trying to do this for a long time. Im willing to do WHATEVER it takes. Im too old for this. Ive hurt everyone and everything. Sick and tired. Its a miracle that as of right now i still have a job.
You can do this!
You are in the right place. You don't have to struggle alone. Continue reaching out as there's plenty of support in this community. Stay strong, you got this Melissa🙏
Willingness is super important. When things get tough, remember how bad it was and be willing to do whatever it takes to stay sober
I have lost virtually everything and burned almost everyone from addiction and the mental health issues associated with it. It will come to a point where you realize you can't ask for forgiveness from everyone, you need to just move on with what's best for YOUR recovery progress
Congrats on the willingness to do WHATEVER it takes!
Trust me, it’s much easier to be sober than not sober.
When I finally got serious I did the following:
- Went to AA/NA meetings daily, yes everyday. Especially mornings.
- Got sponsored and did the 12 steps multiple times with different sponsors, one at a time.
- Did service within the recovery community.
***Life got much better. 16 years sober and grateful.
I’m here if you want to talk. I sponsor too
The old saying is keep it Simple. And keep coming back.It works if you want it.
I am really struggling with the whole morbid reflection, focusing on past events and things that happened. How did you deal with it?
I still struggle. Hate it. I have to pray and breathe. And sometimes literally shake my head hard. Weird-but it helps.
I have a new sponsor. Older lady. I told her I needed someone who would kick me if I needed to be kicked. She laughed. Tonight-first meeting with her-pray for the WILLINGNESS to be WILLING.
David, it is a process to turn those morbid reflections into positives.
When I did the 12 steps, I learned to forgive everyone including myself. The seemingly horrible things done to me and things I did to others and myself became tools to help others and myself. I became a better version of myself. UNCONDITIONAL Service is the best way to build self esteem. UNCONDITIONAL Service is love in action. Love conquers all negativity.
I accepted your friend request. You can private message me
I believe in you
Well keep trying and don't give up! Have you tried inpatient treatment?
Dude give yourself a break. You're only 3 days sober.
@melissa429115 I'm not going to 12 step you @danny157478 did it and did it extremely well.
When you're done trying you'll know.
Soberity is an inside job.
It's a miracle that you're still alive. Your life is more important than your job.
Again you're only 3 days without alcohol. Just because you haven't had a drink in 3 days doesn't make the craving go away.
Your new sponsor isn't going to keep you sober.
The only one who can keep you sober is you.
The cool part about sobriety is that you will be given the opportunity to live two lives in one lifetime.
Your current life is Melissa 1.0. we'll call it Hurricane Melissa. Just like all Hurricanes you're destroying everything in your path.
Melissa 2.0 is waiting to be made.
You are right. Pray for the willingness to be willing. I’m WILLING.
If u want it do it make urself better
Oh my God, I feel that way every morning. I don’t know if I can fix damage that I’ve done. One minute at a time sometimes he is my mantra.
Start going to meetings today
The gift of desperation is a hugh motivator...keep going to meetings, get a sponsor if you don't have one and get involved..you are worth it
