Cannarecovery

I’m curious to know everyone’s thoughts about cannarecovry. Personally, I believe that if you put down your doc and use marijuana or even drink alcohol in moderation, you’re still considered sober.

Interested to hear feedback on this. I’m all for psilocybin to help with addiction.

A drug is a drug. Any substance that removes you from reality is a drug. Sorwee.

I'm for the cannabis. For me it's a bit complicated but I have an injury that I will need surgery for but am trying to go as long as I can since I will be limited with what I can do with my hand and wrist. It helps when inflamed and in pain, not a daily thing needed it's more weather changes or I used it to much. I wear a brace at times to but the cannabis helps and I have a script. It also helped me get through my panic attacks without needing opiates and helped a bit with sleeping, haven't slept a solid night since I've been sober. With all that I really don't even use it that much and when I do it isn't to get high. Some people are in recovery and certainly abuse it. I have a severe addiction issue but it never made me be a stoner and use it in access. Cannabis can certainly do wonders for people but also can be just another crutch. If someone uses it in access all they are really going to do is go broke buying food or nap. I've never craved cannabis like a high from heroine the first time and other things. People have the stigma and negativity about it but unless you have used it on the regular I don't think you have a right to make an assumption. You can certainly have an opinion, but it's not something that you can say yes you are high and out of your mind like if you take a bunch of opiates. What a so called person researches what they call you high on cannabis is unlikely how I would feel you you feel but we both know 5 bars of Xanax or pain pills we are cruising. It's also not a thing one can compare to drinking since alcohol you get drunk, black out, then poison and cannabis you get high and are back around in a bit. That's my book for now.

So how are things going this time? Still getting high? How’d it go using it “last time”?

It’s a non issue for me because alcohol and weed completely wrecked my life.
However, to answer your question…I don’t know :man_shrugging:t4: Does anyone really know??
In the end, if you’re happy, healthy, and living a “good” life…who cares how you label it. More so, who cares what others think. I’ve been in and out of recovery for most of my adult life. Most (not all) of the people who I knew that smoked weed eventually had issues and had to stop. I personally only know of 1 person that drinks occasionally, and doesn’t have an issue. His DOC was H and s£x. He’s been clean from those for over a decade. Personally, I advise against it because of what I’ve observed over the years. For me, I wish to learn how to live happy joyous and free without any substances

It is not part of my program. If I smoked pot or took mushrooms I would consider that a relapse for me.

I had a person argue with me that nicotine and caffeine are “worse” than thc. Saying drinking coffee isn’t sober unless smoking weed is sober. He’s either got great coffee or terrible weed. Anyways, you do you. Don’t worry about anyone else. Make progress. Maybe harm reduction is part of your path to chemical freedom.

I think different things work for different people. Cannabis can help and I know somebody who smoked to quit drinking and that helped. The only thing I'd say is make sure you're not substituting one addiction for another. Marijuana is not totally harmless and it can be abused like anything. I have friends that use it because it helps with their anxiety. Personally, it exacerbates mine. I think sobriety can look different for different people. If marijuana is helpful, I'm all for it.

I'm very curious about this as well. I've heard it can be helpful for a wide range of mental health needs. Do you have any experience with it?

I agree

Yes I’ve recently started using marijuana to help with anxiety

Totally understandable. Try to find strains with high CBD content as those have maximum efficacy in managing anxiety.

I know cannabis can help a lot with patients with cancer in dealing with pain and creating an appetite. Like you said, cannabis is better than using opiates and if it helps you, there's nothing wrong with that.

I love the weed, but every time I smoke it gives me anxiety and paranoia. So then I drink to take those feelings away. Unfortunately it's a vicious circle for me. So I have to quit both.

Everybody is different. I chose not to use cannabis because I worry it will affect my willpower to stay sober and send me right back down the path I don't want to travel on again. Good luck with everything and I hope you reach your goals.

What is it

Any sober and truly recovered alcoholic or drug addict based on their experience will find your theory to be funny at best. Many people before you have been down that road too and found out that it was a dead end.

Deception is sneaky. It fools us when we don't realize we're being fooled.

When you are 100% clean from alcohol and/or drugs, then and only then are you sober.

And I can testify that sobriety is great and better than being under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. But you have to put in the time like the rest of us to realize that.

Remember this Janie;

God gives us the privilege of free choice. But God does not give us the privilege of determining a different outcome to what that choice will entail.

The consequences are bound to the choice.
