Cheers to nonalcoholic beer & new adventures!

Hey everyone! I have heard of “moctails” but being that I was never a big fan of cocktails to begin with, I didn’t have much interest in them. I don’t have many sober friends, but I wanted to let someone know that I am having me a NONalcoholic 0.0% beer right now, and it’s actually fun. I thought this community could appreciate that. The Heineken 0.0. I was a social drinker, and when I gave up alcohol I found myself missing the fun feeling of having a beer with my boyfriend. We are now on our way to town, sipping these (in the car lol) & having us a good ole time. He’s so supportive, and this shows that not much has to change when quitting drinking. We can still enjoy all the things we did before- even a beer. I think while giving up alcohol is going to be a very life changing event, it doesn’t have to be a loss. In fact, I would consider this moment I’m having now quite the gain. A gain that alcohol would have loved to steal from me and my boyfriend. Anyway, I hope this helps someone. The liquor store in my town carries nonalcoholic beer, wine, and even vodka! Who wants shots :stuck_out_tongue: good luck to everyone on your journey, and I am proud of each and every single one of you.

That is delusional thinking. A alcoholic personality. Complete abstinence is in liquid form and mental form also.

I guess different people are triggered by different things. I see it as something positive, and I have seen numerous posts about moctails on here. But I understand your point of view, and it was definitely not my intention to trigger anyone. I still believe the positive things I mentioned in this post. Best of luck to you.

I’ll share my story here. I relapsed 2 times trying to trick my mind with Na beer, took me out every time. My brain and my disease knows what it wants and the taste will send me into cravings. I suggest against this behavior if your alcoholic, dangerous waters!!! I personally don’t drink anything that looks or taste like alcoholic beverages.

I do not have the mentality that I am consuming alcohol when I drink these. I’m taking on a completely different mindset that actually takes away alcohol’s power over me. The entire point of this post was that alcohol doesn’t possess the power to give me happiness or take it away when it’s gone. Honestly, I think the saying “different strokes for different folks” applies here. We should all be very mindful when commenting on others’ posts. best of luck.

Thank you for your response. I can see how that may be dangerous territory for some. I personally know people who love N/A drinks and have been sober almost 20 years so I won’t say that it goes for all. I guess I am learning what to and not to post in this app. I appreciate your comment though!

You wanting to drink fake beers is your thing. Just that the image you posted is Heineken beer bottles. That word is a trigger to those who used to drink that brand. I loved it. Yet, I’m an addict and unable to use it any longer. You want to talk about using fake alcohol that’s fine. We get it. Yet, to plaster the feed with the brand that is “exactly” the same label they sell real stuff is what is bothersome to others. It’s a trigger to mostly those just starting out in recovery. If I go to an in person AA or NA meeting, and the people there are advertising Heineken beer t-shirts or pot leaf t’s, think those there wouldn’t say something? Sober sites should be safe zones from promoting brands that sell alcohol or drugs. Whether it’s alcohol free or not, it’s advertising an alcohol brand. That’s the issue. Not that you enjoy drinking it.

While I apologize for the image being triggering, I would like to address the original comments you and others made and say that my opinion is that anyone who comments on or critiques someone else’s sobriety (who isn’t their sponsor) doesn’t know anything about recovery

I like the St. Pauli N/A because of the girl on the front of the bottle…lol!

I totally get that! It’s good to be self aware.

Yeah that’s a slippery slope for me too.

It all depends on the person, if you can drink N/A stuff and not crave the real stuff... Fine by me... Me on the other hand, I don't think I could do it, I'm pretty certain I'd crave a real beer.

Lots of things can be triggering. I appreciate your post and I enjoy an NA every now and again.

Your line of thinking maybe different than others.

I just discovered Coors edge and honestly if I go out it’s my go to, it’s non alcoholic but I put my lime in it and it helps. I spent weeks debating on if this was a good idea or not but so far it’s helped a lot especially when I’m craving. The Heineken isn’t bad either

Thank you for your post. I agree with you. And your taste buds.

That's great, as long as your sober, rock it. Your pic didn't bug me, Enjoy.

Yeah I put the lime in the bud zero and it was delicious…. If it helps in a social environment I don’t see the issue, that is if it doesn’t trigger you to drink the real thing.

I agree
