Ended a short relationship with a woman cause she drank two bottles of wine in front of me while I was at her place. Did not drink, but was disappointed in her behavior and she new my story. Dating is hard and even harder considering my story….not sure if I wanna be in a relationship or go through this flaming hoop called dating? Whats everyone else’s thoughts?
I am not in the dating game. I hear ya though. Too many to go through til you find a good fit
Dating in general is hard. Dating sober is even harder. I have just short of 3 years, so I have spent some time at least looking/online dating. I haven’t spent any time on Tinder or Bumble, but Hinge has the option to show what drinks/drugs you do (alcohol, weed, cigarettes, other misc). This has helped me filter out the heavier drinkers, and I’m very forthcoming with it when I first meet a person. If they seem uncomfortable with it or have any type of response other than support/seeking more info then I know they’re not for me. As an aside, a new dating app called Sober Dating is coming out soon, should be really cool, the developer is sober and she was frustrated with the options she has for dating. I listened to an interview with her recently.
I can’t imagine trying to date. I have went out with a couple guys. They were respectful but it was a lot. Sobriety has my full attention. Dating seems like having a second job to me right now. I sometimes feel like I would be a second job in a relationship because of all the stuff I have to be careful of. I hope that changes some day.
I agree dating is difficult. Dating sober, more so
Im starting to realize it is like a 2nd job and ive never worked more than one job
Right lol.
I’m beiiiing funny, but maybe we have matches in the comments??? Let the universe work it’s magic lol
Well maybe, buts its hard, irritating and like Wedad👆said its like a 2nd job. A decent woman is hard to find these days
“A decent partner is hard to find”.
100% true. But it always has been. So was getting sober, but we did that. And maybe now that we have a clear head, we are the ones who filter out the red flags before we even begin.
I have had a sober relationship begin and end since I got sober, and feeling the feelings was intense. It was great and I have nothing but the highest of hopes moving forward.
I have so much more to offer now than I feel like I have for years. And I’m not going to waste it on someone who doesn’t value my journey as much as I do.
I would rather get to know someone as well as possible over the internet, text messages, and phone calls before meeting in person bc I am sober and afraid to go on a date with someone whom doesn’t respect my wishes. I can’t afford to lose my sobriety. I’ve lost enough already. In all actuality, dating has always been like a second job. At least now that we’re sober, we don’t have to hide that side of us and I feel like I can be much more open, allowing the man to decide if he can handle the real me or not.
One never knows!
So True
I’m thinking that was bullshit but I’ve been there! They don’t always understand and do you want someone like that? No!
Go to meetings.meet someone with 5/10 years sober.
Hello
My advice is if you’ve not been sober for at least a year, don’t even think about it.
13th step, anyone? It’s real!!
It’s hard enough dating in general, dating sober..especially someone who is not, ain’t gonna turn out well, my friend.
Love and light

I feel the same way!
Well said bro
For me, what makes sober dating hard??? I have STANDARDS now
What that also means? I'm ok being alone with ME now. Yeah, loneliness & the WANT for a companion is there, but I'm at a place where I'd rather be alone than integrate someone who isn't really and truly also at a good place mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I trust that who's meant for me will come in the universe's timing; not mine. My lack of a dating life may indicate I'm not as ready as I think I am
Yep!!!! Done forever!!!! Not worth it!!!![quote="jackie113567, post:5, topic:16485"]
