That first week can be torment but remember how you feel now. You’ll be so glad this is the last time you feel this way!
Remember it’s what alcoholism feels like, not sobriety
I’m on day 5 as we’ll never experienced nothing like this
It is really hard at the beginning, physically and mentally and emotionally, but it really does get better! So proud of you for flushing your stash! You are stronger than you think! Keep being strong and you will see that it is really worth it! Things are going to be so much better!
Rough one!
I am worse one
You should be feeling soon most withdrawal last about 5 days - been there done that - it’s awful !! You are close hang in there. Your body won’t hurt forever.
Hang in the! Morning day six I felt tons better.
You got this Kristina…stay strong and know that those feelings will subside just give yourself some love and patience

You got this, the first week is tormenting. I slept the full first week.
Withdrawals suck. Ride it out to be free. You got this…..
I'm on day 12. IT GETS BETTER!!!! Once you get past a week the cravings will subside, I promise! Keep your mind busy, jogging and extra workouts have been crucial for me
Oh, it gets SO much better!! Hang in there. Addiction is easy because it’s all down hill. Breaking that and being sober is an uphill climb. Hard work builds endurance and with that comes strength. You will get stronger everyday!! Reach out, talk to people, keep up with meetings, build your sober network, and for the love of God, learn to forgive yourself. The last one was the hardest for me.
Hang in there I am on 11 days… keep busy and go to meetings and go to your higher power and ask for help.. you can do this just look at is one day at a time don’t look beyond what’s in front of you.. you can do this..
Good morning. Day 5/6 was the worst. I was sweating bad, had the shakes, crapped my pants twice. It brought me to the point of complete humiliation. It was awful. Near 3 years of recovery now!!! My life is wonderful!!! I will never forget that week of withdrawal. At this point of my recovery I’m so grateful for that demoralizing experience and for many reasons. 1 it brought me to a place to begin my sobriety and 2 I never ever want to go through it again 3 it made no doubt in my mind I can never safely ever put a substance in my body again. My suggestion lots of meetings AA and talk to people who have all gone through the same thing. It helps knowing you are not the only one that has experienced it. Keep going it will be the most worthwhile thing you’ve ever done for yourself. The next 3 months will be a fight but with support from people who have made it, you can persevere. And above all.... do not pick up.
Day 11 today
lots of things still suck but hey I’m doin it
I went to detox for the first time in December, every other time was cold turkey in jail. There was a girl there that every morning I'd get out of bed after staring at the ceiling all night would tell me don't worry, it gets better. I wanted to punch her, not literally but I hated it. Afterwards I saw her at a meeting and almost cried because I was able to tell her thank you for just being a little light in my day even though I hated it, it kept me going deep down. It does get better, once your chemicals in your brain start rebalancing you will gradually feel better. Not sure what you are coming off of but I know for me with opiates I had decent anxiety for a few weeks after everything else was gone but it was bearable. Try going for walks and taking as many hot showers as you want. I promise they help. Can't wait to hear you saying how great you feel soon!!!
It’s excruciating but it does pass. Hope you are doing better
Hey Dan, thanks for the advice. For me, it’s opiates too
Day 11 feels better than day 5 that’s for sure. Still can’t sleep though. And oh my god, the restless leg syndrome was awful last week. Thankfully that has subsided.
