Day one. Again

I feel like garbage. I missed a whole week of work and kept drinking while i was off. Im afraid im gonna be in trouble at work for attendance. I feel so horrrible from the drinking that i have no idea how im going to get through my shift. I know its the effects of so much alcohol, but i just want to feel better.

Have you considered rehab?

I'm the only income earner in my home - my spouse and child are disabled. If I go to rehab, they have nowhere to live. I feel trapped.

Probably not the politically correct response but have you tried cbd gummies to ease your mind

I have in the past and they did help

Day one is great. The most important is that your present and did no pick up today. The statement ‘one day at a time’ is often said, but for me day one was the most powerful and it got me through. Don’t be hard on yourself.

I'm a caretaker as well and I get how difficult it is and the pressure and stress involved. Are you going to AA or participating in online meetings?

I struggle with AA because of the religious aspect and I'm not at all religious. Are there meetings that don't involve talk of god?

I'm trying.

I'm feel the same about AA. In NJ we have one group that doesn't have all the god work. The big book is like 1/3 the size

My girl...we try everything to stop...but seldom do we make a decision to...you are at a crossroads ...nobody is coming to save you...get up...adjust your crown....and choose a path...drink or don't...it socks...but this is the choice...it's up to you

Maybe try Naltrexone and meetings? Who takes care of them while you work? If you don’t get yourself help they won’t have you in the long haul. There must be a way and resources. Keep trying to quit.

Medical detox for me was only a few days and nights. However, I needed to make my sobriety a priority over finance, romance and even family. Without absolute sobriety I lose all of the above. With sobriety I can have everything and so much more.
After detox I went to AA meetings early mornings and nights every day. That was my rehab.
You can do it too!
I’m here if you want to talk

Something that has really helped because I’m not a religious person was someone describing their “higher power” to me and it wasn’t God, it was the people around them who show up for them when they need it most, and I truly believe in that. I think of the words of NA that say a higher power of your choosing. It has helped me not to get caught up the any reference to God and to try to get the most of what I need from AA which is always the great people and the community aspect of it.

@veronika182105 ... There is no religion involved in AA. Who told you that?
Yes does it mention God (higher power) as YOU UNDERSTAND HIM not me nor anyone else on this platform.
Yes, there are AA meetings for the non-spiritual and the Agnostics.

Download the AA APP to find your meetings and while you're at it read the Big Book mainly for chapter to the Agnostics. It will shed some light on your concerns.

I can relate ...focus on you and make a decision not to drink today it's what I'm going I know my family needs me I can't afford to get locked up

I'm so sorry for what has happened. If you feel uncomfortable with the serenity prayer, try and see if you can find a dharma group. It centered more on meditation and peace of mind. At any rate I wish you the best of luck. Try not to mentally punish yourself. At least you realize it was a bad idea.

To add what Samantha says, medical assistant treatment using the vivitrol shot has really helped me with cravings

good luck
