I can’t sat enough about fitness…enough
Best thing ever. However, I have been active in Dance, Ballet, and Jazz since I was a child so maybe it’s a little easier for me. I do know that’s a hard one with the demands of life. Those struggling to get up in the morning…force yourself to do some jumping jacks, then over time you might just find…you get what you need
Ahhhhh yeah…
I had every intention of joining a gym when I got out of rehab, but I didn't follow through on that. I have started putting on a little weight because of my new sugar addiction. I've started pricing exercise equipment for home use, and started buying healthier foods when grocery shopping.
See bam
that’s the start!!
I've never been a gym user. I've never had an issue with weight, and I don't want to be buff. Over the last year of my drinking, I dropped 50 lbs from skipping dinner to drink instead. I was down to 140 when I left rehab, but 3 months laterI'm back to 170, and getting a bit of a gut. Even at 170 and 6'1", I'm not obese, but I don't like that gut forming.
Yeah I’m with that! Out of shape or seeing a gut is not any help to feeling proud of yourselves. However, till you reach your ultimate goal, always remember and be proud of whatever other accomplishments you’ve achieved
I’m a gym rat. Helps tremendously
Been forcing myself into 30 minutes of work out a day
So true!
I feel a lot better on the days that I make it to the gym. I’ve been eating better and feeling better in general. It can be hard to stick with sometimes though. I’m an addict and I sometimes self medicate by eating. But I do the best that I can.
And that’s all we can do as human beings
Fitness has been a huge part of my recovery from the beginning. Crucial in helping the body produce the proper hormones to heal and feel better. Recovery in general is mind body and spirit. Fitness can be a type of meditation as well. There’s a great organization called The Phoenix. It’s all over the nation. They have an app. Fun free sober fitness activities.
I’ll check it out, thanks
Fitness is much easier without alcohol in my system. Sometimes I’d still run or workout after drinking. That was stupid and probably not healthy.
No not stupid, smart. I mean never overextend yourself and listen to your body…I guess a heart attack is always possible in situations like that. However we are sweating out the toxins so that is a good thing. I always felt better, but still needed to rest that’s for sure.
Motivation comes and goes w me. I really need a kick in the ___ to get moving. I have all the sane lame excuses, nine of them valid
Yea man get to the gym you won’t use that stuff you buy at home. Plus it puts you around ppl. The last thing you need is to be alone working out and isolate. Stop coming up with excuses and get you tail to the gym.
I love this.. I wake up every morning and have to calm myself down because I am so ready to get into the gym.. I have to remember to pray, meditate, and chill before running to lift weights and get that part of my day over with- because I have such high fitness goals. I will say though, being addicted to the gym is 100000x better than being addicted to alcohol!!!!
Cause we look sexy and we know it
Honestly the community of CrossFit has been huge for me in recovery. If you can find a good gym with great trainers I highly recommend it. I use to hate on it because gyms id been to before had crappy coaches that would allow people to do movements they weren't ready for and they'd get injured. My current gym is amazing and I've even competed in a few local comps and podiumed. But the community is the best, everyone there for the most part is very successful and of the same mindset. Very supportive of people in recovery too. I love it. I was sober for 4.5 years then Covid hit and all the gyms and churches closed and that began my isolation and eventual relapse.
Totally
right. That da.. COVID…which apparently is coming in HOT again
