Good morning people. My question is.. is it ok or is it a bad idea ,to sip wine for the Holy Communion during recovery for alcoholism .

It doesn’t seem logical that we couldn’t, but our brains are not wired right. There is the phenomenon of the allergy that once alcohol enters our system it trips off intense craving in our body. One is too many and a thousand is never enough.

One communion is too many and 100 is not enough. I’m not allowed to take it anyway having not been raised in the church. Your call - good luck.

Your higher power will not judge you for keeping yourself mentally/physically/ and spiritually healthy. My advice would be to ask for a blessing but skip the wine.

Hey Jermaine! I wouldn't chance it! I ended up in full on relapse over two rum filled chocolate candies someone offered me at a holiday party one yr. You know how tiny those are?? I knew what they were, but my head said..."It's no big deal! You'll be fine!" By the end of the evening I had dumped 4 shots into a cup of coffee so no one would know!!!
