How many people went from drinking booze to smoking weed? I am NOT one of these statistics, BUT, a friend of mine and I were conversing and he said that I “was a rare one” because most everyone he knew that quit drinking, start smoking weed. Has there been any research done on this? I’m also curious as to why weed is ok but alcohol isn’t? harsh topic for me personally
Also! Another side note. Does anyone else feel the same was as I do with thinking “420” is so high school like?! Just curious.
Any who. It’s hump day y’all! We are here. We made it. Let’s gooo!
I have heard of Mary Jane maintenance… it’s not for me, but I know a few people that do it. Personally anything that is going to alter my mind is a bad thing. Trying to hide and alter is what got me in the mess I was in.
Thank you! I agree 100%. Whether it’s alcohol, wacky tobacky, cocaine or anything else, it’s all the same in the end. A mind/body altering substance. No bueno! Though I dislike it very much, I’ll stick to having to face my demons head on, stone cold sober. Womp Womp. lol
The problem with as it has now been dubbed "California sober" is there is a lot of conflicting data on the issue. Bottom line e is trading one addiction for another is never healthy.
I quit both.
Nicely done!
Hmmm…how do I say this properly?? My first thought was wow what an irresponsible statement to say to a person in recovery. However, I have to remember that most people have not had the same experiences/consequences as us in recovery. They will never understand how we just can’t stop, or how this is life and death to many of us. So that being said, it’s up to us to stay mindful of our recovery and not fall into the idea that we can get away with smoking a little weed once in a while. Yes, there are some of us that do claim to be California sober and doing well, however, this is a small minority not “almost everyone”. As much as I’d love to control my weed smoking, I’ve proven to myself that I just want more and more. Be careful and don’t believe everything you hear
But I am in recovery myself?
Not irresponsible or judgmental. Just a simple question as to what the percentage is of people who have/had an addiction to something other than weed and when they stop said addiction, had turned to weed instead. With or without the mindset of it being ok. To each their own. I don’t partake. Will never partake. And think an addiction is an addiction, no matter the drug or high of choice. Any who. Happy Wednesday to ya!
I know you are in recovery…and that’s awesome!! I was speaking of your friend who told you that you were so rare, and that almost everyone he know is smoking weed. Is your friend in recovery? I assumed not because of their reckless statement. If your friend is in recovery, please take what they say with a grain of salt.
Oh. Haha. No no. He wasn’t saying it in a smarty pants kind of way either. He’s been alcohol free for almost 2 years and smokes weed at night to help with his insomnia. And the people he knows aren’t exactly his friends. More so people he’s met and knows of from NA and AA. But thank you for your concern.
I personally do not smoke weed either. In the past I drank alcohol and occasionally smoked. It is strongly advised to not replace one bad habit with another.
I smoked weed BEFORE I got sober, but it’s on my list of substances which I classify as drugs, so it’s off limits for me for the remainder of my life. I don’t miss any of it.
Very well said !
We’re on the same team! I think I get a little crazy when I hear those kind of remarks about weed in recovery. It’s one thing to acknowledge that it may be work out ok for a small group of people, but the almost everyone I know comment kinda ticked me off. Also, I’m a huge ex pot head and I admit that I miss it!! I hate that when I smoke it, I just want to smoke more and more. Before I know it I’m back to 24/7 with my life completely unmanageable. I’m sure that’s why this topic irritates me lol
Yes it’s just substituting one for another. If you truly have addiction problems it is best to stay away from everything as one typically leads you back to your DOC. Not everyone is the same though. I know people that have done the same, I don’t judge them, I just hope it doesn’t become a problem for them. And yes, “420” should hold no significance. If you’re an adult who gets high you are either an addict or a responsible rec. user. Either case doesn’t make one day more special than the next.
It’s medical that’s a personal thing between the individual and his doctor non medical take the steps . Do you have a medical condition or a spiritual??
Yes, celebrating 420 is sophomoric
I love THC for its therapeutic effects.
Happy to be sober on both April 19th and 20th.
I didn’t mean to laugh when I read the last part of that, but I did. I get it though.
Sobriety tends to have a love hate relationship with most everyone.
