I’m kind of feeling like the only messages I get on here(or any other platforms) are from dudes only and they are not really 100% interested in talking about recovery. I feel like my female friends IRL are scared to ask me to hang out because there will be alcohol, or my sober friends are just too busy. Even if they do make plans, they cancel last minute about 90% of the time. And by last minute, I mean I’m sitting in the parking lot of the restaurant we are supposed to be meeting at. I’m starting to get a complex. Maybe I’m just not that likeable when I’m sober. Or boring. Just a frustrated vent, I’m just craving genuine connections with cool people not trying to hook up.
I’d love to be your friend!
Yay! Thank you! We just become friends!
I’m honored!
Me and Rachel became friends! I know I’m a guy but I’m only about gaining friends and learning more about myself and others! Rachel is such s good person! And I’m sure you are also Vanessa!
Definitely some thirsty dudes up in this app….
One thing that I noticed in sobriety is that friendships did change, by a very large degree. I had to cut ties with a lot of people due to past experiences and wanting to avoid the pressure and temptations. It was difficult to be around a lot of people socially because drinking is very paramount to a lot of people. Even friends I stayed in contact with, things changed. I’m good friends with those in my recovery group, but it seems like that there isn’t a lot of common interests outside of sobriety and recovery, so other activities seem awkward and forced. It’s a hard journey at times, and I hope you can find good friends to help you walk through it.
I have the same problem. I moved to. NY from California after my divorce and decided to get sober. It’s been tough and making female friends is even tougher:(
I suggest you start friending as many women on here as possible. There are a lot of positive ladies who are very active on this platform. You ladies need to stick together for sure. Good luck
I just moved and am having trouble connecting with women. I’m going to a woman’s AA meeting this morning. I would be happy to chat with you! I just “friended you, whatever that means.
Go to a lot of meetings. Reach out to newcomers even if you’re a newcomer. Pick them up for meetings. Go out after meetings. Stop making it about you and it’ll all come together. Many blessings
Go to women's AA/NA meetings. They take care of eachother.
Vanessa, friend me. Cannot have enough accountability buddies. Also, take a look at The Luckiest Club. Download on your phone. Many women on there, subgroups, bookclubs, etc. I have made many virtual friends there. It is actually saving my life one day at a time. Everyone is very serious about sobriety and making genuine, long term friendships. I go to at least two meetings a day and unlike AA I look forward to every meeting. Reach out if you need support!
You have this

....says the thirstiest dude on here.
Learn to be alone.
On here? Any friends really.
Hey Robin, thanks! I just accepted it- I’m not sure either now, I think we have to pinky swear or something

But..it is about me.
Just kidding, I get it…
Thanks for this! Very good ideas and group info!
Alone is where I spent 12 years drinking. I’m ready for people.
