Has anyone been sober and then all of a sudden

Has anyone been sober and then all of a sudden your world flipped upside down?

Get busy and/or get with someone you can lean on near by. Every situation is different and grief has no schedule but sooner or later it’s gonna happen and good hard cry does wonders, more than any bottle can.

My son died in 2016. I didn’t have time to drink but God I wanted to so bad. I had stay strong for his young family and and siblings. It was hard and I leaned on my God /HP a lot.
Just writing this digs up a lot of stuff.
I feel for you man. I don’t know how to provide guidance other than it’s tough but we have to move on and be the best we can and try our best.
So sorry for your loss.

That’s pretty much been my entire first 11 months in sobriety. Almost lost a testicle, was in the hospital several days; I’m in the middle of a divorce, has a friend die etc.

What’s helping me is staying in the middle of AA. Calling dudes and hitting meetings etc. get out of my head and hang with others is the best way (for me at least) to stay sober

Best of luck

I have known a lot of turmoil and grief since getting sober. Burying my brother who died of the disease. Losing my father in the midst of a pandemic. Battling my own demons. Letting go of the only woman I ever truly loved.

We still have to live life on life's terms. We just choose to do it without throwing a drink or a drug at the problem...a drink or a drug that will only make things worse.

Reach out for help. Lean on people you trust. Give yourself a chance to grieve over the loss. This does not have to destroy you.

Yep I’m right there with you…do you have a sponsor who can help guide you? Have you found your higher power and tried praying? I did and went to a meeting.

Things will be worse if you add more problems in the mix

Keep your mind focused on something else. Stay busy. It’s hard! But you CAN do it! I’ve seen it done myself! And definitely talk with someone and tell them what’s going on!

My wife passed away…that’s enough problems already

My wife’s passed away in a car accident and left me with out 1 year old.

Idk how to even move forward

Not into the higher power thing. I’ve been delt a terrible hand in life brother

YOU CAN DO IT! If it counts, I BELIEVE IN YOU!

I’ve been a full time single dad of 2 girls since the younger was 10 months. I’ve done it drunk and I’ve done it sober. Sober is the easier, softer way.

My condolences on the loss of your wife. That is tragic.

If you’d like to count me as a sober ally send me a friend request and I’ll send you my number. While my situation is different, I’ve put together 2 years and change without a drink and I’d be happy to see if I can help you get there too.

I'm sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what you're going through.

What works for me and all my hardships is working with my sponsor and helping others.

If you need to talk, please don't hesitate.

Accept my friend request

I’m sorry to hear that. Did she know you when you got sober?

Okay I did

She helped me get clean and all. She was struck by a drunk driver. The irony kills me
