Having a lot of anxiety today. I relapsed this weekend and I just need some words of encouragement.
One. Day. At. A. Time. Each day is another chance to make a different choice! You got this!
Beth!!! Welcome back my friend! I suggest that you try something different this time, like AA, or NA or life ring…. Something
Do you have a support group?
Recovery is hard and difficult. You made a mistake but shake it off and but your mind set at one day at a time. It’s easier said then done for sure but if you can say to yourself today I won’t use it will make it feel a lot easier. I don’t know what’s going in your life that makes you have a lot of anxiety but use this app to express yourself and your thoughts so people can help, or try to seek someone to help you! You may feel alone but you aren’t there are a lot of people who have been in the same boat as you and can help you little by little to help. You can do this! You just gotta believe in yourself! Good luck you got this!
I do have a SMART recovery group I go to on Fridays. It's helpful. Just feeling pretty low today and there's no groups going on today so here I am. Thanks!
Thank you friend
Wonderful! You can always go to an AA meeting. I surrounded myself in recovery early sobriety until I gave my all to the AA program. I still love the other programs. Refuge Recovery is one I attended. Helps me with meditation.
How’s your higher power? God?
I think I'm coming back to God as a higher power. Still don't like Christianity or church but I'm reaching out to him on a personal level
Perfect! Great start! Developing a conscious connection with your higher power, God, is blissfully beautiful. For me it’s not that I don’t like religion, I actually enjoy going to church and talking with the people there. I just have to be aware of what I say. I just listen to them share. I learned a few things that I’m able to bring to my recovery.
Which is very similar to AA, help others, be of service, put God first, and pray for each other.
It's important to keep yourself busy and when you feel like picking up change what you're doing until it passes. Call someone and tell them you feel like drinking. reach out for help. Alcoholism is a serious disease and if left untreated can become fatal. The good news is there's a program, AA, that will teach you how to become sober and stay sober. this is a solution. I'm now 10 1/2 years sober
Beth - you messed don’t let it beat you up let it go you can’t change the past.. AA is a good place to start.. one day at at time don’t look beyond that .. you can do this !!
Congrats on 10 years! Thank you for the encouragement
Thank you kindly, ya'll are a great support system. I'm gonna keep coming back
Have you listened to “sober awkward “? They’re brilliantly funny, (2 British women living in Australia) - but great views on getting / staying sober.
Alcoholism is a two-part disease which is why it is so dangerous. It is a mental obsession and a physical addiction. Here is a link to a chapter in the big book called "the doctors opinion." This explains simply about our disease. After I read this it changed my life and my views of alcoholism. I understood it a lot better what had happened to me.
This sounds great! I'm absolutely ingesting loads of sobriety books and podcasts on my little walks and you just gave me some more ammo! Appreciate you
Thank you thank you for this resource, truly.
Organized religion? Corporate Religion? Very different than God , or other higher power. Read “roger ebert aa” (Google it) - very interesting read (former famous “siskel and ebert” movie reviews
The “sober awkward” chicks? Will tell you , before next first drink - play it forward - how will it end? Nasty hangover ? With “did I just do it again”? Ya gotta make that decision before first drink. .
I've been using the play the tape forward method for a couple of weeks now and it does help
