Hey everyone! I’m new here and looking for a community. AA didn’t work for me (I’m secular and it wasn’t my vibe) so I’d love to make some connections here! 31 months sober with no sponsor.

Welcome to the fam! Have you tried SMART Recovery? I made AA work for me (it wasn’t easy), but I can understand it’s not for everyone. OTOH, AA does have secular meetings. Unfortunately there aren’t enough of them out there, but you can probably find some on zoom. Regardless, 31 months is awesome, and if you keep coming back here, I’m sure you will make some connections
I don’t know what SMART recovery is. I’ve done most of the AA steps like taking an inventory and making amends, and attend meetings sometimes and just sit respectfully through the religious parts (grew up Mormon so I’m very good at this lol).

I don’t know maybe ch about SMART recovery either, but there a decent amount of people on here that speak well of it. I completely support and understand your position with AA. It can be very conflicting and confusing. It’s great that you worked the steps. Just keep doing what you’re doing ODAAT
I will definitely do some google sleuthing about SMART and see if that is a good option.

I know 1 person that I was in treatment with he has 32 years clean in AA and I support him on his anniversaries I have 23 years clean I go to NA. I guess everyone has to find the right fellowship for themselves, but you have done some steps so continue staying clean and try out other fellowships. But no matter what we don’t use. Take care

Check out AAagnostica. There are lots of secular AA meetings. Also Sober She Devils. And maybe try the Satanic Temple Sober Faction.

You're very welcome! Also West Side Agnostics as well as Lakewood Freethinkers ( both AA groups I'm part of) have alot of zoom meetings as well.

Ashley have you heard of SMART Recovery? If not zee if they have a live meeting in your area. Being secular I think it could be a good fit. They also do zoom meets like 12x a day. I am not secular but their approach was for me, the most.effective method and was as secular a meeting as I have personally found.
