Challenge yourselfโ€ฆ itโ€™s a huge step you got this. After 20-30 days you get crazy mental clarity and almost a euphoric rush, your body starts changing for the better, and your sleep gets so much better. Then 60 days or so you start noticing a bunch of other positive changes happening in your life. Itโ€™s not easy or everyone would be doing itโ€ฆ but so worth it. No more hangziety or sluggish feelings - you start to see things so much clearer and you really start to figure out who your real friends are. Makes the small things in life so much more pleasing and pleasurable.

If you go to bed sober thata a start. If you get through 24 hours without using that's another start. If yo quit obsessing about it throughout the day that's another start. If people stop ignoring you and invite you to holiday parties again that's another start. Life in recovery is an endless series of "starts." Enjoy the journey rather than focusing on accumulating days.

Curiosity and compassion. Be curious about the sensations in your body vs. avoiding them. You are stronger than you know. :white_heart:

I didn't take it seriously untill I did it for me. Before I did it to make others happy, get um off my back. If you want it bad enough you'll get there. I've had few bumps and had to start over, but that only made me stronger and more determined. Hope that helps just a little. Keep it up, you can do it.

Iโ€™ve been sober on and off for 4 years. Donโ€™t worry about tomorrow. Just take it easy today. And rinse and repeat. Itโ€™s like that bar sign. โ€˜Free beer tomorrowโ€™:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Don't use no matter what and take it one minute, one hour, one day at a time. Surround yourself with people who are sober minded, positive and who genuinely care about your well being. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is our recovery. These are just suggestions...

Best!

Start with today! Thatโ€™s all we ever have. Just today.

Reaching out for support Is a great first step. Lots of good advice is to be had here and I'm sure also at meetings. I haven't been to a meeting yet but have been pondering which one would be best since here in Portland, Oregon where I live there are dozens every day.
I've made it 16 days so far and I'm sure there haven't been 16 days in total that I haven't drank alcohol over the past two years.
Try to get to know yourself without the substances and take it one moment at a time.

First part is already done!
