How do you deal with short periods of stress? Cause ya girl is going through it 🫠
Hi Shannon. I do small tasks to keep my mind off the stress. They add up. Make your bed. Walk the dog. Do the dishes. Small achievable things you can check off.
I also use exercise, personally. I’ll run, swim or lift. That ALWAYS works. Gets the angst out every time!
You (we) know what doesn’t work for sure.
I’m new at this and I am finding that deep breaths help and the actualization that you are going through some stuff and seeking good solutions. Feels good to be n control and making good choices😀
I repeat the serenity prayer and tell myself that this too shall pass. Whatever stress I get today is better than it used to be.
Go for a walk.
Serenity prayer works!
M+M's. Will do wonders. And keep you stress free and sober.
" Meetings and masturbation.

As crazy as this may sound... Your feelings, thoughts, emotions are only energy and not something you need to act upon but allow to move without you acting out by picking up.
Visualize you moving through this with a sober outcome. Keep going. Keep reaching out. You got this.

Letting Go of Urgency One thing at a time. That's all we have to do. Not two things at once, but one thing done in peace. One task at a time. One feeling at a time. One day at a time. One problem at a time. One step at a time. One pleasure at a time. Relax. Let go of urgency. Begin calmly now. Take one thing at a time. See how everything works out? Today, I will peacefully approach one thing at a time. When in doubt, I will take first things first.
A quick fix would be breathing exercise during a panic attack is the only way to help
Be glad it doesn’t last:blush:
I hate to be that supplement bro but NAC helps a lot
Journaling about it helps me step outside myself and look at what's stressing me out in a more analytical way. I also find it helpful to exercise and get outside. I live hiking and have gotten back into photography. Recently bought some plants and hoping to improve my green thumb skills. One of the many blessings of sobriety is we now have time to explore new hobbies and interests - and doing so should help get your mind off the stress
Depends. I workout or take walks right now. Remember this to shall pass. If needed I go to therapy. All else there is always the target range.
That is spot on advice right there.
A dedicated mindfulness meditation practice has been the most useful tool in my recovery toolkit. But in my opinion you have to do it everyday, not just when you are stressed or having a hard day.
And recovery community to speak with honestly. And again, this has to be curated and maintained daily. Not just in troubled times.
Breathe
Lately instead of music with lyrics, that can cause me to dwell in my feelings etc… I tune in to some music that’s more just instrumental. For example jazz, Sirius xm (watercolors) station, and so on. Honestly, I breathe deeper and start to notice things around me with less anxiety. It’s really just the little things for me these days.
High intensity exercise meditate eat right .. focus on the things in my control
Move a muscle, change a thought
