I will always push back when the religious won't back off with their Kool Aid. Read Josh's replies regarding Wolfmans suggestion of another form of jesus-heavy recovery. He said he wasn't interested. Maybe you missed that. Sure, you're sharing your experience but with a bit of proselytizing. If I ever meet a Jesus banger who didn't try the old "you'll eventually understand it" trick, I'd do a goddamñ back flip.

Not every meeting worked for me. I just kept looking. I did go to a NA meeting once and it freaked out. Alcohol is my doc. NA is pretty rough and tumble.

It seems like you have gotten a lot of wonderful advice on here! But truly when it comes to meetings there are going to be ones that feel like home and others that just aren’t right. That’s the beauty of this thing there is something out there for everyone! I’ve been to every kind of meeting out there. Some I loved, others I will never go back to cause they didn’t feed my spirit or my sobriety. Trial and error. I Will pray you find your home soon

You say that like I have never experienced your beliefs. Trust me, I have. I have investigated enough, and I have decided it's not for me. Sounds like Josh has as well. That was my only point. I think it's valid.
I don't understand why Jesus freaks expect respect, but are unable to give it back to unbelievers. Why must the world tiptoe around your delicate feelings?

I was not trying to create any negativity, I know many people believe in god or Jesus, whatever works for an individual is fine and I respect that. It’s just not for me. I do believe that something is making the universe flow. But I just don’t believe that a god or guy named Jesus is it. I have had it forced into me my whole life and I just think it’s another crutch. But that is just my opinion. Everyone can have an opinion

I did try a smart meeting the other night, and it just seemed a little half as*ed. But I plan to try it again next week, as they don’t meet near as often as Na

I am sorry to hear that, brother. I don't imagine Iowa has a ton of options where you are at. I have definitely been to meetings that I felt out of place. I hope you can find somewhere more appropriate. Maybe try Celebrate Recovery. I doubt you will have that sort of experience
I appreciate your input and everyone else’s too. I am sorry to hear you had some out of place feeling meetings as well. I tried another Na meeting in a different city tonight. I liked it much more than the previous, it was much smaller just a few people. I will go to that one from now on

You get upset when someone mentions Christianity, but you yourself push the satanic temple. Which is a religious organization. Just because you don't agree with Christians doesn't make their opinions any less important than yours. Your need to constantly attack anyone who mentions God or Christ is horrid to say the least your just using Josh's post to argue for the sake or arguing. Focus on yourself and maybe you won't feel the need to lash out at people.
Josh I hope you find a meeting where you feel comfortable and gain what you are looking for.
