Do something different from that last time you tried. Hang in there, absorb it all.

Dude it won’t work if you aren’t ready for it to work? Like it’s not a magic pill or some thing that will just happen. You need to have a desire for change and work the steps

It won’t work if you are scared you should be scared to go out and use again cause you’ll have only three options jail, homelessness or death.

Wishing you the best! I’m glad you will be getting help. You can do it.

It will work IF you want it to work. Go in with a positive attitude. Take it one day at a time.

I appreciate your honesty. I am very concerned it won’t work and I am just out $3,000 dollars. It’s easy to be sober when surrounded by structure and professionals. It’s when I come back home to loneliness and a job I hate.

No need to be lonely when returning home. I knew what meeting I was hitting on my ride home from rehab. Got my hand up and got a bunch of numbers and that started my 90 in 90. I’m only lonely if I choose to be. You need not ever be alone again Beth!

Well start thinking of what you can do to change your circumstances like your job get a resume going if you need help I’ll help write it for you. It’s the least I can do. I can help you get it out to recruiters so they do the hard work for you. And get you prepped for interviews. Listen the life you have now isn’t something set in stone. You can change careers it may take awhile to do it but you can at least start somewhere take baby steps one step a day. Work your job now until a better opportunity comes up it would be very irresponsible of you to quit cause you don’t like it. If it pays the bills for now keep it and start looking for something else. Also be grateful you have a job so many ppl are in situations where they can get a job or want one so bad no matter what it is just to make some money. Get out if your drunk mind selfishness and be grateful to have a job. Be grateful that $3000 was put towards a good goal so many ppl don’t have money to even go to rehab and sadly die or end up homeless or in jail because they couldn’t afford a place in rehab. Start looking for ways to serve others not yourself. It’s not all about you anymore if you want this sober thing. Make it about the fellowship and others in the fellowship and serve them.

Also, loneliness is ampliphied when you’re drinking and isolate. You will not find any comfort going forward drinking. You’ll find yourself in more loneliness and depression and shame. Get to aa meetings and make it a daily priority to go and ACTUALLY STAY AFTER and talk to the ppl there try to IDENTIFY with them instead of comparing. You’re at square one. So you won’t be near the guy or girl with 5 10 20 years of sobriety. Find someone with littler sobriety 1 month 3 months 6 months a year and ask them how they did it! That’s it take one day at a time. I promise you it will work if you work it. Message me if you need help with any job applications or resume building

You have the wrong attitude.
If you're afraid that it won't work, then it probably won't work. You have to go in there with the attitude that I'm going to get sober, and then once I get a jump start on things, I'm going to really make it happen this time. But,

"really making it happen this time"

amounts to more than self will. Forget about everything that you hear on this app and plan on going to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Don't judge the program by one ridiculous meeting because you don't happen to like somebody there or you're not hearing exactly what you want. The program works if you want it and if you work it.

I've been sober for 9 years.
I run newcomers through the 12 steps in four 1 hour sessions the way they were originally designed to be taken. All of them have stayed sober.

People poke around with the steps, get lost in their fourth step, and then they go back out. When they come back, they say the program doesn't work.

Don't disqualify yourself. Just give it a chance. The steps do work but that's after treatment. When you get clean, you will have a choice. It's no matter what at that point.

Try being honest, open minded and completely willing! Chase your sobriety like you did your drinks and drugs. And you must do it for you. No other human kept a real one sober
