I am struggling very hard right now with alcohol and coke. I want to stop, but I feel like I can’t. My boyfriend is tired and exhausted because I keep telling him I will stop, and I don’t. I am scared to stop everything, but deep inside I really know that I can’t drink normally. I need to cut everything. I’m new here on the app, and I’m curious to know if chatting here has helped anyone. What’s their feedback… I mean, their review of the app? Thanks a lot
I was in your shoes. Just alcohol though. The thought of quitting was scary. But not as scary as dying!! That’s why I quit for good
Was it really hard for you when you quit? Did you go through any relapses? Had you been drinking for a long time before that? And was there a specific trigger that made you decide to stop? Thanks a lot for sharing, I really appreciate it
I tried once on my own and had terrible withdrawals. I literally thought I was going to die. So I checked myself in to rehab. After that everything was easy. Just initially coming to terms with never drinking again was difficult. No relapses no nothing.
Very happy for you and thank you for the reply.
Genevieve, I’ve been where you are. It’s not fun for sure. For too long I struggled and lost a lot of meaningful relationships, self respect, time, money and more.
Finally I got sick & tired of the vicious cycle and made my sobriety my number one priority in life. Then everything got easier.
I went to AA/NA/CA meetings daily, got sponsors, completed the 12 steps multiple times and made a bunch of new really great friends in the sober community.
I wish I had done it sooner, but hey I’m just glad I finally did.
I’m here if you want to talk.
Hello Genevieve. I going on 5 years. I quit cold turkey and never went back. Got sick and doctors told me quit or die. AA wasn’t for me so I did it on my own. You can do this. With a little willpower and for your family you can get through this.
Thank you Paul! Happy for you! Is it because you had a liver cirrhosis?
Admitting your life is unmanageable is step one that you’re powerless. I had to go to detox and treatment myself but sobriety can be achieved in the rooms of AA a good sponsor and god/higher power. It only works if you work it.
The app is a great way to connect with people who understand your situation. The beginning of being sober can require a program and medical professionals at times. Some prefer a 90 day sober house. I wish you the best of luck.
Hey there. It is possible to stop. I did. I was a Meth user for 40 plus years. It can be done. It was scary.i had to let go of my friends. But life is better, but you need to pray everyday. I got down on my knees and asked him to take away my cravings. You got this uf you really want it.
Yes I did. But doctor said on recent bloodwork I’m fully recovered and I’m healthy as ever.
Thank you so much !

Good!!! Happy to hear that
Wow! Congratulations to you. 40 years. You’re a soldier! I can do this. Thank u
Yes, this app helps me daily. Sometimes throughout the day. Whenever I've had moments of struggling and have brought it up here, I've gotten so much support from people every where. It's a different, more instantaneous kind of support at your fingertips rather than going to an outside meeting. It's truly been one of the most beneficial sobriety tools that I've ever utilized.
@genevive394649 I'm confused. Your sobriety tracker has you at 31 years, 11 months and 29 days. At this point you "should" be rock solid in recovery. What are you doing wrong that is catapulting you backwards.
No I am 31 years old.. not 31 years of sobriety
@genevive394649 You may want to change that and put your sobriety date in.
This way it removes any and all confusion.
Cuz I was sitting here going wait a minute. She's got 31 years of sobriety and she wants to use something. Wasn't right with that. Thank you for setting my wagon straight
