I do have a problem

Last night, I did one of the worst things I have ever done in my entire life. I have no idea why I did it. I remember doing it and I remember feeling like it was all OK. It was most definitely not OK I put my child’s life in danger. I do not want to attend NA or AA meetings here in my small community however addiction is a damning issue. I downloaded this app in hopes of finding some community here. I am one of those people who needs to talk to other people but I can’t talk to anyone about this EXCEPT I want to talk to someone I do not know about this. I’ve got to see it and get it off my chest. If you are so inclined please reach out. Thank you so much.

Hi Alia, a lot of what you are saying is relatable and there are a lot of different options and recovery can look different for a lot of people. The first thing you did that is great is admit you have a problem and being willing to get help and reach out. I’ll send a friend request if you want to connect.

Hi Alia. Welcome to Loosid. AA/NA are not the only options. Sounds as if you are dealing with a lot of guilt, shame, and remorse at this moment. These are pretty much universal feelings amongst us who suffer from this illness. You are not alone. There are lots of great ladies on here that you can chat with. Jessica offered her friendship. Take advantage of her generous offer, and get started on your recovery journey :peace_symbol:❤‍🩹

Lots of other groups besides NA and AA. I will also say I had a stigma against the groups or thought “I’m not that kind of addict” I encourage you to give it a shot or do a zoom call even.

If it’s not the organization and just the fact that it’s a small community then you should try a zoom meeting. The beauty of zoom is you can attend meetings anywhere in the world at pretty much any time

Hey Alia, I can understand your concern. If you need someone extra to chat with, reach out. I’d be more than happy to help out. I have a lot of experience with specific issues that may be of help to you.

Hey thank you Brennan I appreciate your sentiment. However, growing up in AA and that being my first exposure to bad crowds and explicit content I don’t really have a good association with it. Nevertheless in 2019 I did attend AA and NA meetings. They just are not for me. But thank you, I sincerely appreciate your thoughts and commmet

I also found AA not for me, but to each their own recovery path. I know it works for a lot of others and I’m happy for them.

Hello Alia, AA is not for everyone. What is important that you find what works for you. I know someone that prefers The Lucky Club. I have not tried it. It's all on line and about $20.00 per month. I spent more a day on booze.
Any questions or comments reach out anytime. I will talk sobriety with anyone.:pray::pray:

Try reading the book This Naked mind by Annie grace. Explains how alcohol tricks our brains. I also went to therapy and started going to my local nondenominational church. All glory to God. Couldn't have made it this far without the almighty.

That was my wake up.. I was drunk, armed, and drove with my kids in the car for two hours. When I pulled into my driveway it was like a ton of bricks was slammed into my chest. That was the last time I ever took a drink. There are plenty of other programs out there to give a shot. The biggest thing is to give them a try and keep reaching out for help if you need it!

Tim, wow, a very similar situation did happen. Thank you for sharing that with me. I understand that being the last drink. I feel very determined with my decision however that is why I showed up here in hopes of support because I’m going to need it.

Thank you, I will.

Thank you Scott! Welcome to you as well! we’re ‘noobs’ ( aka: newbies…. )as my 9 yr old says..

You’re right! I didn’t ever imagine everyone would be so responsive and supportive. I am so appreciative of everyone here.
