I haven’t had a drink in 4 and 1/2 months and this is my first sober Christmas in almost 20 years… I’m proud of myself but can’t kick a lingering sadness the holiday season has brought on. Anyone else looking forward to a Christmas being over?
I am. Ready for January. So ready. We are almost there. Hang in.
Same! Thanks girl
The first year of holidays were hard… after that it just hit different for me. So much better and I get to have the memories instead of a hangover. Hope you have a good day, and a happy holiday.
That’s what I’m trying to tell myself, it’s only natural the first one is going to be tough. Thank you for your kind words. Happy holidays
Mixed emotions for me and I have 12 days today without a sip , have to get out of my head
Congratulations on 12 days! You got this!
Appreciate it , not my first rodeo however I have friends dropping Like flies from liver failure in there 40’s , time to hang it up or I’ll be next
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you
My first too, 9 months sober. Today my relationship with alcohol was strained. Everything I did reminded me of drinking. It wasn't a feeling of loss or glory, it was an overpowering feeling of regret. Christmas is supposed to be about family and friends and instead I've lost all my "friends" and the hurt I put my family through is unforgivable.
Yes!!! That is EXACTLY how I’m feeling!
I think the positive is that we are associating drinking with negatives rather than glorifying it.
Your right, and I think it’s important atleast for me to have to sit with the consequences of my actions right now
January?
I'm ready to plant my garden.
LOL
Congratulations on your sober time!
You're feeling like something is missing. That's normal in early sobriety. It's like you dumped your old clothes and now you're standing outside naked.
No pun intended.
You just have to pick out some new clothes to put on.
This will pass as you develop a new mindset for a productive life. It gets better. Just hang in there. And remember never to believe the big lie; That this time, everything will be OK. Because it never is, is it?
I'm only one drink away from a drunk.
A day at a time
Thank you for the inspiring words Dave!
I am always glad when it's over. I haven't had a drink in a year and a half but I really wanted one yesterday. I just kept thinking this too shall pass and it did
Nice work, Emily💪
Stay centered & stay grateful for what you’ve accomplished so far. What is it that makes you sad about the holidays?
Definitely. No fun really as a single person and I hate when no where to go or nothing to do. Thanks for asking:blush:
