Unfortunately just because we get sober doesn't mean that life necessarily gets easier. It can be quite the opposite because we no longer have that coping mechanism we relied on so heavily. This is why it's crucial to build a sober network of people who experience these same things as you are. For me I need a myriad of coping mechanisms. I work with a sponsor, meditate, do yoga, go to meetings, get coffee with friends, post on here, read books (both for entertainment and enlightenment), and speak to a therapist/ psychiatrist. Even with all of these things I still get in ruts like you're describing but they don't last as long as they used to and I'm able to accept them for what they are and let them pass. When we can walk through the negative the positive feels that much sweeter. Just my 2 cents.
Post alcohol withdraw?
You are worthy
I totally get this. I fight with this alot honestly even after being sober for a long time. Maybe just need someone in your life to just talk to about everything just to get it off your chest it helped me a lot even though I hated talking to people
I feel ya! I’m almost 9 years sober and I have periods like that. It gets better for sure. What I like to do when I’m feeling unmotivated and down on myself is make a list of things I’m grateful I have in my life. It really helps me and I hope it will work for you. Keep your chin up my friend and remember, we are all beautiful people!!!!!
SISTA.. SISTA.. SISTA!! It's okay to feel what you're feeling.. Simply because WE ARE NOT USED TO THESE NEW FEELINGS! It's getting COMFORTABLE WITH THE UNCOMFORTABLE!!🤷🏾🤷🏾
What motives you?? Get into that.. Dig deep into that muck & mire and FIND YOU AGAIN!! That AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL SISTA that you were just 142 days ago.. IS STILL THERE!! She hasn't gone ANYWHERE!! Remember.. Just For Today..goes a long way!! Sooooooo them feelings you're having are JUST FOR TODAY!! Good rest.. Good planning.. Will bring a Good Morning to start fresh & tackle the devils that are coming at you!!
You’ll get flat periods, like all of us. Please try to eat, drink water, all basic maintenance. If that slips you may sink lower. Is there anything you’d like to do that would bring you even a moment of pleasure/happiness/peace? Force yourself to do it.
Yes.
Hang in there one day at a time.
There are many great comments on this thread!
As long as we live, life will continue to show up. We must continue to do the things to make our sobriety strong. We can be recovering for as long as we live; if we choose to. Today is all we have, choose it today don’t worry about tomorrow. I love you keep choosing to struggle. Our other option isn’t a good one as we have learned!
Don’t give up! Get in contact with your sponsor! Things gonna get better.
I know this is a challenge I go through. Before I went down a drunken rabbit hole I always did cool stuff. Now that I'm sober I've had to slowly get back into doing cool stuff without booze as my crutch. A lot of the time I have to force myself to get back out there. Everytime I do I always feel better once I've done this. So in a lot of cases at least for me I have to stop thinking and start doing. Like today I woke up sore tied and cold but I forced myself to go skiing. Once I got moving I was enjoying sunshine the trees and not thinking about being sore tied or cold. Good luck getting back out there. Keep your head up and go for it you got this.
143 means I love you. I love you for believing in yourself. Be proud, lift your head high an say I got this One day at a time💜
A very wise 2 cents
Wow, I love hearing stories like yours! 17 years!
Even people that have never struggled w anything in their life feel crappy some days. It'll pass. 143!
It’s a struggle some days…. Soberity doesn’t mean there’s never going to be anything hard. Have you told yourself positive affirmations? Write on your mirror something new each week ie… your beautiful, I’m worth it, god loves you just positive things in a place that you will see every day. Keep trudging the road to a happy destination.. no one’s said it would be easy but don’t stop before the miracle happens.
Start with one thing you love about yourself. Then, go from there.
We all get into a rut, it's quite normal. Just have to figure out how to get back up.
Are you feeling any better?
