I’m loving sobriety but still haven’t really made any sober

Clean and sober for a month. I’m loving sobriety but still haven’t really made any sober friends and I’m that guy that needs conversations and connections. Any tips maybe to help me achieve this goal of mine.

It seems like it can be challenging. I’m in the same boat with about the same length of sobriety. Not sure if you’re interested in meetings. I’ve yet to go locally but have been to some virtually. Congratulations on your sobriety and I’m happy to connect.

I’m hear if you ever need to chat🙂

If you go to meetings, there is usually an unofficial meeting after or before. Usually coffee or a meal where people go to hang out.

Its not easy for everyone. I struggle too. I've seen your comments on mine and other's posts and you come across as pretty crass. Kindness is good for everyone, including yourself

I struggle with it too. Going to church has helped to meet good like minded people. Also, honestly I've been praying that God would open doors for goof friends to come into my life and it's really starting to happen. And, I'm a person who will message novel length paragraphs if you're into that sort of conversation lol, hit me up!

Thank you so much. I just want to be happy and I know I have to give myself the best chance I can for it. We only have one life, I am not going to waste mine anymore that’s all I know.

"Crass" is subjective and it depends on where you're standing when you're looking. I don't mean to come across as crass or anything like that. But so many people are looking for some supernatural sht to help them them get sober. There are real people who genuinely care, all you have to do is try a little and reach out. We are all struggling.

I appreciate your advice don’t stress about it bud. Staying sober is all I have in mind and any advice is good it’s up to me. I take wat I need and let the rest go with no hard feelings. Stay positive homie it goes a long way

I struggled with this hard. I got liquid death, carbonated water, to drink while hanging out with people at first so I wouldn’t be ostracized for not drinking. Eventually I began surrounding myself with people who are more and more supportive of it. I’m almost 4 months so granted I’m still in the early days but I’m starting to get to the point where I don’t crave a beer while with others.

Sometimes we need people to be "gentle" with us and sometimes we just need someone to smack us in the face and say "get your sht together, we are all here for you". That's all I ever meant. Apologies if it didn't come off that way.

Ur good man I don’t want to use. it just trying get some healthy sober friends something I haven’t had in a very long time so it’s kind of an uncomfortable thing for me at the moment. So it’s something I want in my life now and any tips is appreciated.

I can completely relate! I feel like I’m in elementary school all over again. Trying to make new friends is really hard.

It’s kinda funny I’ve been having a hard time with this but since I’ve posted this I’ve actually talked with a new person today from another page and we went to a meeting together and then a park and had an amazing time. I put in the work, took a chance and when I least expected it, my blessings came to me. God is good and I think it was a great opportunity for growth and to build my confidence. It all started with just asking for what I wanted and really applied myself. I wonder what else I can accomplish with some more effort.

Wow that’s inspiring to hear. Keep it up!

What other page is there?

It was on bumble to be honest but it just so happened to be completely separate from Loosid and I was honest about what my intentions were, was to just find people to go to meeting with and talk about sobriety outside of meetings and do things with friends where it doesn’t have to always be about na or aa like normal living stuff and it worked out. Now I’m not saying bam I got it but it’s growth that I’m proud of. Maybe it leads to a longer friendship but the confidence for me is huge at this point in my recovery.

Like my recovery is nothing to be ashamed of and everyday I can learn something new to be a better version of myself.
