I need a sober community and connection. I am not connecting well in AA though. What are the other options out there? I know I can't do this by myself.

Give AA a chance. I don’t know where you are but where I’m from there are many meetings everyday of the week. Try different meetings. Try morning, afternoon, speaker, big book, open. There are options. I’ve made connections with people when I least expected it and with people whom I wouldn’t interact with otherwise. Have an open mind…

Find other meetings. It’s never easy in the beginning. But AA is the answer.

I love AA and went in and out a long time. I didnt connect well with people in or out of meetings until I finally let my guard down. That being said, Pheonix community is out there, Smart Recovery has meetings around.

Thanks everyone, I guess I really should give it another chance. I'm in a small town with not a lot of options for meeting times and they're very small, but you're right that I haven't fully let my guard down.

na is pretty much the same thing. I don’t connect with anyone at meetings either so your not alone

Yeah, I don’t really get on well with the AA community as well. I’ve been flying solo. It gets rough sometimes. I just keep as busy as possible.

Can’t run from yourself forever. I hope you find a community you get on well with. In my experience, going it alone never works for long

NA uses a different book. It’s the 12 steps though. Just a bit different. There’s a step working guidebook etc. I use NA.

There’s a lot of zoom NA meetings if you want to try them out. I’m in Colorado. I know there’s some evergreen ones too. I’ll request to add you. We can chat if you like. :slight_smile:

NA? It covers everything honestly, I started out in AA too but I’m not an alcoholic u kno? Like I’ve had periods where I drank ofc, but it was never my main choice if that makes sense..
