I relapsed again so back day zero. Is there any methods to deal with being overwhelmed or stressed? It makes me go to drinking everytime.
never fails.
Find a recovery program and stay in it and learn from itâŚ.addiction is a brain disorder and you CANNOT teach yourself how to stopâŚ.Keith Kayle
Your right I try on my own it isnât working. Iâll do that. Thank you
Have you spoken to an therapist or a psychiatrist about your stress? There could be natural ways of releasing it, as well as medicine with a proper diagnoses.
Yes Iâll be speaking to my doctor tomorrow about it. Thank you
Amen it is
Curious if you have thoughts on where your desire to drink stems from? When I was younger it definitely helped me cope with feelings of inadequacy, lack of self-confidence. As an adult, itâs become more about habit than dealing with emotional baggage. Up until very recently I drank when I was bored and didnât want to sit with the mundane parts of life. I believe our subconscious deeply affects our conscious thoughts and behavior which we ultimately attribute to fate. Itâs not fate. We just sabotage ourselves. Sorry for the incredibly long response LOL. Greater self-examination and introspection has zero downside.
Thank you I needed that. I do lack confidence and feel like a disappointment a lot thatâs where it all comes from and guilt.
Biggest thing with a relapse is just start back on day one. Do not go back to using. Act like you didnât relapse. Process what went wrong and contributed to it with a trusted, validating support and/or a professional.
And remember ITS OKAY. Youâre a human being, itâs not an excuse, but youâre gunna make mistakes. ITS OKAY. And itâs okay to feel guilty, thatâs not your enemy, itâs just a feeling, leave it alone.
Okay thank you
Iâll remember that
Itâs alright. Weâre all plagued with the same self-doubt. I try to take the â8 Mileâ approach, not sure if youâve seen the movie. Eminem blows up the last battle by saying all the trash the other guy had teed up, and takes the teeth right out of the tigerâs mouth. The more you lean into vulnerability, the more you just admit your flaws, the easier it is to just move on. Whatâs really hard is constantly wearing some BS mask. Believe me, everyone has a pile of sh*t theyâre working through. See Taylor Swiftâs documentary if you need proof. She has to repeatedly remind herself that no one in the crowd intentionally hates her before she actually goes on stage. And sheâs Taylor SwiftâŚthe whitest, blondest richest girl on the planet. But sheâs still human.
I appreciate your comment. Thank you

Group Therapy rlly helped me ! Itâs great because you can talk and share to peers with a therapist present guiding. And (at least in my experience) the other half of the time we read about addiction and got worksheet too. It helped me grow a ton and learn how to live sober. For me it helped a lot more than AA. I rlly needed outpatient in the beginning. AA is good (for me) later in recovery and keeping up my sobriety. Group rlly taught me how to break the loop and gave me the support from peers who are going thru the same thing as me.
When you are stressed do your best to identify it and then do the opposite. Stressed- get up and do exercise, go on a walk, yoga. Sad-watch a funny video, clean your room, a personal activity that you like. Anxious- go on a walk, bake, color, play dough. Just do the opposite of what your feeling and it should rlly help!
Go to a meeting!!! AA saved me life
I tried it my way for over 40 yrs. What a waste of life that was...AA meetings along with my higher power have given me a great new life for almost 2 yrs now...You definitely can do this too Sierra!
Thank you I will
