I’ve been sober almost 2.5 years, over the years I’ve

Thank you so much Tommy! I will give that a try.

Try looking up sober events in your area. They have a lot of those on my rehab site. My rehab has an app and they post events all the time. Meeting ppl at sober events should open a lot of doors for you. I have met a lot of people at my IOP program and we do things during or after group. We go on walks… there are places to eat… things to do… also your local AA/NA facility might also post those events and have women’s groups. Idk if this helps… I have met alot of cool ppl on this app mostly and value their friendships.

Mel, I'm so with you on this one.
I can totally relate, the last person I was with was almost a year ago, I've dropped every toxic substance my body has endured, my standards for who and what I'm looking for has gone up, lol, I'm in my mid 40s and sometimes I just wish for that Ying and yang companionship. But one of my problems is I work so much, I'm so tired at the end of the day, sometimes to even eat, much less to attend a sober event, and what I can't get done during the week, I try to do on the weekends. Idk, have to trust God that He'll guide me to my match. But I can relate like i said. Hope you get blessed with who and what you're looking for. I'll pray for you my friend.

I feel this. Its like everything is clicking ao perfectly in my life and brain right now, but that one piece is missing. I'm like that Ikea cabinet all put together that looks and functions great, but then there's this one stupid piece you skipped lying in the floor! It's fine w out it, bur it would be aoooo much better if you added that piece :grinning:

Any leads on stuff in the Detroit area? I don’t do AA or have a rehab/recovery situation

Yes! Same! I’m so busy and so tired at the end of the day. I hope the love starts pouring in soon though because I think that would give me a boost of energy, the spark I’ve been longing for! I wish this for both of us!

:joy:I love that and yes I relate to that statement! I hope we find that missing piece!

I need a new tribe too! Let’s get out there and find them!!

I agree with you Mel 100% but they say when you go looking for it you won't really find it or maybe it's not that person for u...ugh!

We can do this! We’ve climbed much steeper mountains so far!

The way I made time for drinking I have made for volunteering in the homeless/recovery community. Albeit maybe a little less. Twice a week with a special event every couple of months or so has been a good mix for me. Just do it on your own terms. I’ve met a lot of good new friends. Thing’s don’t change if things don’t change. Good luck out there.

I’d look up your towns district info and just google detroit area sober events… you’ll be surprised at what that area ESPECIALLY has to offer. I mean they HAVE to have something i’m assuming. Detroit is a very predominant area for addicts and they have to have resources for you guys there. If not… that’s a dam* shame because Detroit needs it.

Congratulations Mel on your sobriety. And yeah I feel you on battling loneliness. I’m more introverted and tend to prefer being alone. What I do is just force myself to leave my house and go out to events or even just in public. The hardest part is just getting out there. Once you do that beautiful things will happen

Thanks Brad, I agree with that!

Thank you for sharing and sorry you went through that. We have found peace, now it’s time to add joy;)

Okay no advice. I am just aware that I often focus one one aspect of my life while I’m blind to what is happening in other ways

I am in the same place but 50. Almost 3 years and alone. It’s for sure the hardest part. You are not alone
