This app gives great support. I’m about to give Naltrexone and the Sinclair Method a try as a backup to AA, ect. Supposed to curb physical dependence and cravings and have a 78% success rate against relapse.
Please let us know how that works out for you!
Hi! Welcome. I’m new to this app as well and so far so good. Lots of support but most importantly: we are not alone! (I’ve got 1 year and almost 5 months of sobriety.) Related to what you shared too; have found a better more sane and peaceful life without alcohol
I will. I not going to drinking it—lol, but according to the Sinclair Method you can moderately an hour after taking it with no physical addiction or cravings. Kinda defeats the purpose in my mind if you do, and if I’m a part of the 22% that relapse because of that, I’m screwed.
That sounds accurate. I wouldn't do it...
I'm also a binge to blackout drinker. At 44 I struggled with this since my first keg party my sister took me to in 7th grade. The last cpl yrs I was aware of my problem and thought I had control of it because at dinner I could stop at 4. I could have 2 glasses to unwind after a bad day. Or I'd go weeks without drinking.
But it's like I told my sister. I can be good 90% of the time but 10% I blackout. I drive. I don't know where I am. I have no babysitter (and who wants that job.) I told my sister alcohol is gonna kill me one day. I'm gonna a blackout and freeze outside. Or end up in prison killing someone while driving. I had my close call recently and decided to quit drinking before I lose it all. Fear is one he!! of a motivator.
But this app helps me talk it out. I don't want therapy. I'm not ready for AA. I have social anxiety not drinking now so never want to leave my house. But I can vent on here which I feel is a safe space.
One day at a time.
Thanks for sharing! I'm here for ya!!
Same💓
Also a binge drinker.. the past couple years having kids and a career and trying to control it all turned from daily to binge drinking
Sorry to hear that. Making steps to stop?
Oh yes.. got out of rehab 2 weeks ago
How are you feeling now that you're out?
Feeling good.. how about you? When did you drink last?
Also a binge drinker! Used to be more of a daily evening drink and it got worse. I went to rehab and stayed sober for 1.5 years and then relapsed and that’s when I would binge for days and then not drink for weeks. It’s caused A LOT of issues and eventually a DUI, a really bad one. You just to have to take it one day at a time and find what support works best for you. I take Naltrexone now. The side effects were awful at first but it does seem to work, just got to take it
The 22nd of December was my last drink. I had one and done and instantly regretted it.
Same allergy. Help is here.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have a similar story and completely relate to the 10% part. I drove drunk all the time and had no recollection of it. I feel you on social anxiety and haven’t gone for awhile but do know that there are women only aa meetings, they feel safe and you’ll hear lots of similar stories!
