I'm having trouble finding hobbies to do while sober. I don't have a ton of money so if anyone has some cheap suggestions I'd appreciate it.

You could go outside and take a a picture a day of something cool in nature, or just something cool in general.

I like to knit. Keeps my hands idle and isn’t too expensive.

I like running. It’s free. Well until you register for a race. But then it’s usually money towards a charity.

I love to read… almost anything. I can transport myself anywhere I want. And I’m doing it sober!!

I read a lot, I walk a lot. I devour podcasts. I spend time outside. I got comfortable alone and in my own skin.

Try walking first then build your way up. I thought the same.

Service work is a good way to keep busy and volunteering is free. Maybe check out local/seasonal events with free admission, maybe even meet some new friends.

Think back on what your interest or hobbies were before daily drinking/using. Like even if you were like 15 yrs old , could provide a spark.

I have enough between gym and other hobbies but nights are hardest. No where to really go at night except kava and coffee shops

I also got back into reading when I started trying to find things to do sober. Even went to my local library to get a library card so I could get books for free. Good sober escapism.

Gardening. Taking care of a plant and watching it grow over time. Just like us. Its a great reminder that you also need watering, sunlight and friendly conversation everyday.

Hello. You could volunteer at the local animal shelter. Not only you'd be helping out a bunch of furry animals, it would offer you great stress relief and accomplishment. Maybe take home a new furry companion!
