It's been 17 days And I'm at rock bottom and I'm trying to take one day at a time but I don't see myself climbing out of this hole I dug. When you were at rock bottom and you couldn't think you could dig yourself out of that hole, how did you do it?

Only today is all that matters. Each day you’ll grow stronger and all your worries will subside. Let time work it’s miracle. Keep hanging in there

Thanks,

Thanks, I'm trying to take one day at a time but it's a lot harder than it sounds.

You can not fix everything in a day. Don’t even try. The other thing is don’t be so hard on yourself. The past is done, you can wallow in it or learn from it. I am sure it seems like there is no way this will ever get better, but it does. Keep going to meetings, get a sponsor, work the steps… surrender to the defeat, so you can start the climb. Good luck man!

I'm still learning myself, one day at a time my friend. Be gentle with yourself. I wish you hope and success in your journey. Sending you good vibes!!!

Honestly man, you're in the the perfect place. Hit a few meetings, find a sponsor that nows the book well and that thoroughly follows the steps. The gift of desperation will keep us motivated for a while, but the steps will KEEP us motivated.

“Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path..”

Screw one day at a time, sometimes I’m just trying to take it 1 minute at a time. I walk my dog…A LOT lately. I have to keep moving when I get in that mode, otherwise all I’m thinking about is not drinking which in and of itself creates internal struggle. Example, what if I told you to not think about the creepy Burger King king peering into your window? I can guarantee what you’re going to think about even though I told you not to. :joy: Anyway, I definitely recommend a dog. You easily meet and chat with other dog owners and they’re a good excuse to take a walk. Also, they’re way more forgiving than humans and they don’t judge. :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, riding a bike. Especially if you don’t have a dog. Exercise is great for the body and sobriety.

I’m naturally a very shy person

When Im on that I start to think differently I see thing that aren’t true.the situation with my ex was good at a time we were doing well but things that we both did pushed me into doing drugs but I know I should of stopped and I have to take the embarrassment of everything you saw me do last knight

I want to have a steady life I can be successful I just see the situation with our past relationships and I’m different when I’m sober

I want to build my credit also

Is difficult to loose them I wanted a better life

I was responsible with my last jobs before my addiction

I want a better life!!

Just put down the shovel for starters.

I found a meeting a day and someone to talk to helps a lot ... sounds simple but it worked early on.

Cravings will continue for many, myself included and I just pick up that 800 pound phone and call someone no matter how heavy it seems. Then share it openly at a meeting the first chance I get.

Thanks everyone

I got an amazing recovery team, counselor and recovery coach I go to early recovery meeting every week and also attend several zoom meetings. I also reach out to the friends I have made in the rooms of AA. The only way for me is One Day At a Time. If I look past that I can get miserable.

Oh man, rock bottom was where I decided it was. There was ALWAYS lower. At that point it stopped mattering whether I could make it out, I desperately had to try harder and harder and keep getting up every time I knocked myself off the wagon.
