Leggo my Ego

Burritos over tacos

Did you ask permission to share that thought?

Waffles are delicious

I wasn't speaking so much on the AA type "one day at a time" types, those mostly make a lot of sense to me. They aren't magical, they are practical. I was more taking about the "live laugh love" types that people post because they don't have anything else in their brain to contribute.

Maybe the bear needs poked. Maybe some people need to take back some if that power and realize they aren't little pieces of shĂŻt that only exist to worship and obey. There is freedom, ya know? I didn't pose this question to bash what gets some people through the day. But isn't self reflection imperative to growth? At some point the training wheels have to come off.

Uh, wut?

Um, no. I'm not.

Your reading comprehension is suspect.

Sure the live laugh love stuff may seem cookie cutter, but that too may get people through tough times. I know several people that are in all honesty way too optimistic for my taste. Then I think back to when I was using.. the glass was never half full or half empty. It was shattered. I have 4 women in my house. Pumpkin spice, and gingerbread are a staple. Cute non thinking memes can be refreshing in an overwhelming and overly emotional environment. Like watching mindless tv… it lets me just zone out for a while. We don’t always need to have a busy mind or deep thoughts. I truly do relish my slow pace.

Houses of worship were created by flawed men to advance white supremacy. Seems you're searching for a philosophical discussion, not a recovery viewpoint.

Most people prefer the passive approach of prayer, to the idea of actionable responsibilities that require work. To me that's the downfall of the holier than thou HP folks. They sit around and pray to end world hunger, but won't lift a finger in a soup kitchen as it may interfere with their pickleball game.

Oh the thoughts, I have many. Not enough room in this forum for an adequate response and debate. You ask the greatest of questions for all those who seriously investigate and ponder the existence of God and its seeming contradictions.
Dostoevsky comes immediately to mind.

Three thoughts to scratch the surface.

  1. God is not interacting with individuals like pieces on a chessboard. We have free will.
  2. Harm is inflicted by individuals by their own free will. This is done by those who place their own drives/wants/desires above those whom they injure. Selfishness and ego.
  3. To claim their is no God is to say that their is no spiritual aspect to human existence beyond the empirical.

The main observation I suppose is that the life of anyone is improved when they avoid the seven deadly sins. However they have the free will to adhere or disregard them as they wish.

As far as "sins" go, it just makes sense to avoid these things, god or not. It's just basic healthy living. Getting trapped up in one or more of them causes resistance and resistance is painful. At least that's how I see it.

My questions is to those who actually do think that their God makes moves in their lives, why them and why not the most innocent of the innocent-children's lives?

Your statement was a tiny piece of a big puzzle. Humans of all stripes have tried to maintain control over others. Calling one out while ignoring the others will get us nowhere.

The truth DOES in fact hurt sometimes. That's probably why other groups who have actively been involved in social slavery as well as thr typical slave trades get ignored. You're simply choosing the easiest target.

Identifying injustice is the only way to change it. Kinda like resentments, ( that convince us we're wiser than others), until we identify our shortcomings we have no way of changing. How could we when we have no idea change is needed? Uh, leggo that ego indeed!!! We can't change while simultaneously existing in a bubble.

You are thinking of God as a regular being. God is infinite. Knows all. Is everywhere. There is nothing He doesn’t know. However, He gives us free will. God knows what we will do or choose, however, He gives us a way out. God doesn’t make us choose, He just knows what we will choose no matter what. Does God do bad things?? Nope. Our human will does bad things and God doesn’t stop us from choosing. He lets us choose.
