It seems a problem for many of us. Everything else is going fine but can’t seem to break this funk I’m in. I do go to meetings but that’s not enough and I’d like a life outside those rooms too.
I live in a small rural community by choice and it’s limited in options. What have you done to meet new people??
I live in a huge metro area and it’s hard to find like minded people to hang with like you said outside of AA…. Sad really but we just got keep trying to find “that”

Losing my family due to my addiction.
Even though I have over 3 plus years of sobriety, it freakin hurt to not have my family and it’s very lonely my friend. Thanks for sharing your story my friend.

Same. I got a full ride to law school somehow and I've been sober for the last four months. It's been the lonliest four months of my life
To bad there isn’t a way to put in distance parameters to find people in your area or state at least and close enough to each other to actually be friends outside the app…
I like meeting people places I have interest in. For me it's the gym, church, sometimes even the grocery store. I don't necessarily spend a lot of time hanging with a lot of the folks I meet, but some and I enjoy the social interaction with like minded folks while I'm there.

Dog parks are great for meeting people.
I had to find hobbies that were counter the the drinking hobby and find peeple engaging in healthy lifestyles within these communities. For me it was Brazilian

As some have stated, go to events that are based around your interests. Bowling, pool, dart leagues aren't always in bars, tattoo conventions..the possibility is endless.

Skot I do what I enjoy and meet other people who enjoy the same stuff. That’s why all my friends were drunks at the beginning. I met them all in bars!
I’ve met people through work. I’ve met people through youth sports. I’ve met people through sober events. This app. I meet people when I do what life brings to me.
I crashed out of dating apps. I found myself being dishonest and self seeking. I don’t know a lot, but I do know that my life was out of balance when I was swiping left and right.
You and I share a love of the dead. I’ve never seen a live show. I’ve partied in the parking lots over the years but I’ve never gone inside. This coming summer I’m going to go see Dead & Company. I’ll hang with the wharf rats and enjoy. And I’ll meet people like me.

Loneliness can be suffocating. I’ve been on my own in a very rural area for the last five years. I go to plenty of meetings even if I have to drive a bit. It’s always the same people but I’m always hoping for some newbies. I have two little dogs to keep me company. I’m hoping to not be alone forever but I’ve put that in His hands. I’ve proven to not be able to make the best decisions on my own. In the meantime I do things that you can only do when you live by yourself. I watch football all weekend and I leave the seat down!! Lol!!
