My cravings for sugar is ridiculous. Never had a big sweet tooth but feels like I am always looking for something sweet after every meal. Is this not normal ? Will this eventually fade away.

Ha dude. Idk same for me. My sweet tooth started when I got sober and hasn’t gone away since. It’s a good trade tho, man. I chased a piece of cake with some M&Ms last night.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ha! I killed 7 Oreo cookies and then chased it down with some M&M trail mix. But you’re right. Rather trade a hangover with being forced to get to the gym.

Sobriety is about saving your rear end. You can worry about the size of it later.

I just got back from a cycling class at the Y and on my way back stopped at a Stewart's and bought a bag of gummies and I was kinda beating myself up for it and I'm glad I found this post!! And the truth is I am feeling blessed that I am in a place in my life where choosing to buy some candy on my walk back from an exercise class is the worst decision I've made all month. =D

Totally agree with Shawn O on this one. When I first stopped drinking one of my go toos was licorice or candy and it helped the alcohol cravings

Since I got sober I crave Pepsi and Coke more than I crave booze. But when I was drinking I almost never drank soft drinks.

Booze breaks down as sugar mine eventually is now and then. Back in the day we carried hard candy if you feel like drinking get a milkshake did you ever want to do a shot after a milkshake? Be good to yourself my friend your doing great!

Definitely normal

Thank you George. Great suggestion. Shots after a milkshake :face_vomiting:

I feel you - I have tried to keep myself busy with a healthy exercise regimen … but when it’s too cold to be outside … I have been vibing with some mint chocolate chip ice cream :scream::yum: I find that it balances out and it could be worse. Treat yourself from time to time :chocolate_bar:

Odd one out here. Coming from an overeating disorder caused by the low fat high carb fad back in the 80’s I consider refined sugars as just another addictive substance. Looking back I realize that I replaced my binge eating with red wine. I’m not replacing the wine with candy now. Decided to combat any cravings with yoga, meditation, and nutritious foods (not low in carbs, fats, or low anything), but oddly have no cravings whatsoever. Doing all the good stuff anyway, just to stay on the safe side

Wow! Talk about will power and determination. Hope to be like you eventually. I’m still so new to all this…
