Need advice

Does anyone live with people who use? How do you manage and set boundaries? I've been able to avoid using for over a month now, but having to constantly be around temptation is so draining. Any advice? (P.S. I'm not currently able to move or change the situation just yet, although it is in my plan to do so within the next year). Thanks in advance!

Never last a year in that environment

Lots of prayer and taking walks

I walked four miles today to avoid being around it lol I might have to take a walk around the world :joy: I do also meditate, pray, journal, etc to keep occupied..I'm just hoping I stay focused on the big picture

Ask them respectfully to not use around you or ask them to do it privately

Bet $10,000 I can and will lol

Well, more power to you. Hope you can make it. Didn’t mean to sound mean. My bad. Just saying tho, I never could be around folk using daily.

I've tried that, but my needs are not respected. It's a complicated situation to say the least.

I get it. It's a constant challenge. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Temptation is everywhere, there is no escaping it, maybe I'm meant to be in this situation now to gain the mental fortitude needed for handling all my other temptations

If they can't respect your boundaries as a roommate, at some point they will take advantage. Be very careful.

I agree. It's not right, but it is a good motivator to get things in order to move out on my own. Til then, I just gotta be super strong and only be home to sleep and bathe lol

I was going to say, try to distance yourself whenever possible. Keep you valuables in a safe place. You are stronger than you think. You got this

Thank u, I appreciate ur kind words. I'm definitely gonna be very cautious and try to push to have my needs met.

No worries. Any time

Ps. Your tattoos are awesome. I just got a new one a few weeks ago

Right on! Show 'em off!

I just put it in my profile pics

I don’t allow alcohol in our home and my husband respects that. I am able to be around others (including my husband) that are drinking at events and social outings, but I can’t tolerate intoxicated people. Besides it being triggering for me, I now actually find it annoying. My husband knows without even saying the words that I’m ready to leave. It’s important to set boundaries and for others to respect them for your sobriety.

That is beautiful!

I'm literally keeping a list of all the things I gain with sobriety in sight so I can read it multiple times a day. Thanks for the support!
