New here. I am looking for an app that connects

New here. I am looking for an app that connects me with people struggling like me. My family and friends don’t understand alcoholism, seem to think its a ‘type of person’ who is an alcoholic. Its a very narrow minded view. Anyway i am here, hoping to connect with you all- i am 6 days sober.

Alcoholism I'd a genetic disease, it's not a choice. Most people have no idea what it's like or what it really is. Even alot of doctors don't understand or know how to treat it. I hope you're doing well and know you're not alone

Welcome

WE have a solution and that’s the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

I suggest …..
•You get to an in person AA meeting daily.
•Ask for help.
•Get a Big Book and read the first 164 pages.
•Find a good sponsor and thoroughly work ALL 1/ steps with that sponsor and a BB.
•Find a God of your understanding
This is what I did and have been sober for a very long time.

WE must find a spiritual solution to our disease and the 12 steps paves the way.
Long term sobriety is available to each of us IF we do the work.
Best Wishes :pray::peace_symbol:

Thanks guys! Appreciate the welcome :slightly_smiling_face:

Alcohol use disorder can happen yo anyone. Genetics plays a role but so does many other factors. I hope the people around you educate themselves so they are a better support for you, but in the meantime, glad you are here and sharing!

Excellent Have you heard 90 meetings in 90 days. 1day at a time

Hi welcome to the group

71 days no alcohol… you got this! It’s a mental game you have to just keep telling yourself you don’t need it you never did! One second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time!
