New medication proposal

Had a talk with my therapist today. Says he might wanna add Abilify to my list of medications. Says its to treat schizophrenia/paranoia. Anyone else been on Abilify? Just nervous. Nothing’s happened yet. I meet with the prescriber next Friday.

Idk folks. Kinda bummed this week. I can’t escape this feeling that there is just something inherently wrong with me. Especially since I’ve been sober.

I was on it for a short time, but I had a bad reaction. My mom has taken it for months now and I’ve noticed a big change. Her moods are more consistent and she’s leveled out as opposed to hot and cold emotions. She’s up to 15mg now. It takes about 2-4 weeks to fully take effect though.

Ok thank you for that info, it really helps. I mean I guess schizophrenia wouldn’t be so unreasonable to believe. I never heard voices or anything but I do find myself replaying scenarios over and over in my head and having/practicing conversations that I anticipate will happen (but never or rarely end up happening) sometimes to the point where I end up talking out loud to myself or making hand gestures/facial expressions as though I am actually having this conversation. Yeah. That sounds valid just reading/typing that

I was on it for awhile. I liked it just made me extremely tired other than that it worked. I also fell the same way when I got sober. Taking a handful of medications got to me a bit. I have since worked on myself and can say I’m fine with the medication as long as I’m not using. Going back to my old life style scares me. I love meditation has worked wonders for me. I am ok with myself today.

Yeah that’s kind of what he said. Im on 150mg of Zoloft. Its been an intense few months. He mainly mentioned my paranoia due to a recent issue with a friend.

Okay thank you so much that makes me feel better. I’m not too too concerned about feeling tired because I’m on Vyvanse for ADHD so im not wired but I have no problems on hydroxyzine, which put me to bed ASAP on a day that I forgot take my Vyvanse

Thank you. I do believe in my what feels like a team. Its also linked to my primary care physician who’s been my Dr since 2010 give or take. Like everyone there knows me and really cares about me, especially cause my mom worked there for the better half of a decade. My prescriber is like my second therapist. And I’m part of the recovery program for mental health, so they do consider those things when they bring up medication.

Chris (therapist) was so thrilled when I told him about this app lol I just tend to get paranoid and I’m so glad that I’ve joined Loosid because everyone here is so understanding and helpful.

I do believe i am in good hands. I just get nervous/paranoid.

Didn't mean to click the heart. Ask the therepist if he or she would consult with a
peer before you make any changes.

I’m not a professional but that can be considered normal to an extent. Definitely consult your doctor about that if you haven’t. The specifics could really help them single out the proper type of medication.

I'm a very health 64 yr old vegan. I have heard rumors that people with schizophrenia have overcame it by a lifestyle change.
Animal products and processed foods cause lots of problems. Caffeinated drinks too.

Be careful with a lifestyle of medication. They sometimes put a bandage on one problem, not really dealing with the root cause, while creating other problems.

Any meds are hard on your liver too. The medical community is a multi billion dollar business. There's no money in veganism as a solution.

I tried to, they said its gonna be handled by the mental health sector of EBCAP (East Bay Community Action Program— health care, labs, mental health, etc). My Dr always has to approve these medications because Im on meds for hypertension so Vyvanse had to be ok’d as well as adjust my blood pressure meds. I trust him, he’s known ms since I was 14-15. He always runs late but when he gets to you you understand why. He’s very thorough and doesn’t try to just speed through the visit. Theres been times hes spent an hour with me trying to help get to the bottom of certain issues.

That actually sounds very valid. They have suggested lifestyle changes but I haven’t exactly been all for it. Even my friends have been trying to get me in the gym for the past few months. I’ve also been binge eating and eating like garbage the past 6-8 months. And I consume a ridiculous amount of Coke Zero and Diet Coke. Oy

^ my comment above was supposed to be a reply to you for some reason it didn’t tag you

Man... Get off that diet pop. That shït is fücking with your chemical balance. And honestly you don't sound schizophrenic to me. You sound like a nervous guy who's worried what people think of him. Sounds pretty normal to me. I'm not a doctor and I don't sell pharmaceuticals, but if you've never tried a solid diet, with no chemical Slürm soda pop and hitting the gym or getting out and riding a bike or walking, then maybe you should before adding more meds. It can't hurt, that's for sure.

You’re more than likely absolutely correct. About the healthy diet stuff, you’re definitely right about the diet soda. And honestly I was at my best when I was taking insulin and I wasn’t eating or drinking anything with sugar in it

I can’t relate, everyone.. but I’m still damaged “goods”
