Now that I’m sober. I can’t stop eating. 😩

Now that I’m sober. I can’t stop eating. :weary:

I’ve just started my sobriety and am on medication for my depression. The amount of food I can go through in one sitting has doubled.

Same here ! I’ve gained roughy 10 pounds in the past 3 months. I try to tell myself I’m making up for all the days I never ate while using lol

I’m currently eating ice cream straight from the tub😃
And I don’t care.

I'm eating more too. I go from candy to Cheddar popcorn, back to candy to PB&J.... it's horrible bc I am very conscious of my food choices and always reach for healthy snacks. I hope this passes soon. I'm also unusually tired but I kind of expected this coming out of constant fight or flight. I desperately want to get back to my personal trainer but I have zero energy

I feel this!! I’m the same way I’m trying to figure out how I can get motivated to exercise more so I don’t feel like a fat blog

I would just say do anything you have to to stay sober even if you gain a few pounds it’s better than drinking. I picked up a hobby making flower arrangements from other cultures and am going to start selling them. I’ve been struggling a lot and can’t seem to stay sober more than 2 days. I’m a caregiver and live at my clients home 2 days a week. I’m totally relaxed and I don’t crave alcohol. It’s when I get home and it gets closer to night time I give in to drinking. I’ve been sober a day and had a health scare.

SAME and tons of candy

It's normal to gain some weight early in recovery. The best thing is to incorporate long walks or some form of exercise into your daily routine..

The same thing happened to me but it’s died down after a few months and my energy came back and I’m actually in the best shape of my life. A lot of it is your body craving the sugar it is missing from the alcohol. Be patient with yourself it will all level out.

I too have replaced alcohol with sugary drinks and snacks. I just did some grocery shopping last night. I tried to buy more real food, but I still bought some sugary stuff.

I have gained about 20 lbs in the last two months since rehab, but I had lost 50 lbs in the last year.

The struggle is real!

Regaining all the taste buds is a fantastic side effect of getting sober. It will find a balance but your body is enjoying all the nutrients it’s missed out on.

Snack on veggies eat salads

Totally normal. When I stopped I ate so much candy. We crave sugar. I ate chips to a lot of them

My first 3 months without a drink, I ate a tub of ice cream almost every night. I lost 15 pounds the first month when I stopped drinking beer and slowly gained it back with the ice cream lol

I feel you on that. I find that since I've been sober, my drug addiction transmorphed over to working out and staying fit. Now I can't stay out the gym lol

Eating is okay, just stay off the couch and try not to eat garbage.
