Ok this is an odd question but since I’ve stopped binge drinking I run to sugar but not just any sugar gummy bears weird right? Anyone else pick and odd habits.

It is actually not odd, your body will crave sugar when alcohol is removed. I did the same thing. Sweets are better than the devils juice.

True but at first it was bad it was bags of those gummy bears and chocolate

Chocolate, which I never really liked before, ice cream and starbursts. And just about anything else that contains sugar. Happens to most of us. Have some, it's better than the alternative as Brad said.

Thank you Brian at least I’m not the only one. Makes me feel better.

Can add to your convo to add to the mind at ease. Mike n Ike’s for me. Especially early in sobriety.

This is not odd.
It is normal to right, crave this stuff…the sugary things.

I consume too many sweet things; chocolate, etc.
Better than putting that nasty, poisonous sh-t in, into my system.
Meaning, alcohol.

So.
Gummy bears for the win!:raised_hands:t5:

I wanted sour candy non stop for the first couple weeks😆

For me it’s hard candy, suckers and jolly ranchers mainly.

Double chocolate brownie ice cream topped with peanut butter m&m’s; I ate for over a year when I was leaning off. Yeah I gained weight from it but it wasn’t as bad as the bottle. 3(sober years) later I went from 6’1 257 lbs down to 6’1 220. The sugar cravings eventually come down. I now constantly drink ice tea and lemonade. But mix in at least 40 oz of water a day. Not a day goes by I don’t have a cup in my hand at all times

That's because Alcohol turns into sugar so it's natural when you quit booze I went through the same thing

For sure! My addiction is alive. Early on I binged on sugar, women, work, the gym, running and I realized I’m truly an addict. Once I was fully aware, I started to balance out.
Your experience is normal. Don’t trip, just know and stay cool

I crushed some sweets. You are not alone.

I agree with Danny it'll balance out. The 1st year I got a kidney stone from what the Dr said was likely too much sugar. Right now I'm dipping coconut cookies into my coffee flavored with almond joy creamer :joy::sweat_smile:

Totally normal. It says in the A.A. Big Book that we should keep sweets around for just that purpose. And the good news is nobody ever got a DUI from too many gummy bears
