Okay new to this. Looking for support. I got a 2nd dui. My first one was over 15 years ago but here I am. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Katie start going to AA meetings. Go to 30 in 30 days.just go sit and listen you don’t have to say anything
Welcome Katie. Sorry about the dui. Are you having other issues with drinking? What is your goal? Do you have any previous experiences with sobriety/recovery? Also as an fyi, there’s a nice looking bong in your profile pic. I suggest you replace that pic with another one, as it’s not appropriate for this platform.
Thank you! I’m so scared.
You’re off to a good start by reaching out … Now start some meetings .. i tried both AA and NA .. build a network and find a sponsor and start some steps ..
Go to AA meetings, get a paper signed. Keep going to meetings.
I'm with SoberInSoFlo...we kinda need some more info to give sound advice. Regardless, you are admitting a problem and are reaching out so there's the first step in any case. Keep it going in the right direction Katie
You are in the right place to start. I know it must be scary but you have the ability to turn this around.
Always reach out to like- minded souls who are supportive
Just by being on this ap is a great first step
If they have a DUI accountability program, it may be a good alternative depending on your circumstances. They’re tough, but have a low recidivism rate and may help you with any jail time, fines, and community service. Ask your lawyer about it and/or inquire yourself.
Don’t miss driving drunk , got lucky several times , get involved with AA , immediately, all in , don’t drink no matter what , day by day it will get better , , may take a bit but every day sober you will get more clarity ,
You guys thank you so much. I have to pick up a breathalyzer and this will force me to be sober. I hope it gets easier because right now I don’t see the light. Again, I’m not sure how this platform works but gonna try and set things up for support.
Dude. I got my second DUI in 2019 after a relapse after 6 years of sobriety. I didn’t drive for 3 years. I have a blow and go in my car currently. Its the price we pay for making poor choices. But you know what? We can learn from making those choices and live better.
Working on myself every day is what keeps me sober. That and just being truly real. Denial and just straight up lying to myself and others kept me sick those 18 months that I relapsed.
I believe you can do this, if I could over come and celebrate 4 years … ANYBODY can.
Katie just don’t drink and drive. I’m just kidding but that’s what people would tell me. I couldn’t not do it. I went to a treatment center and I live in a sober house now. I could never do it by myself. Right now I’m in IOP and I go to AA, sponsor and working the steps. It’s a great way to meet sober people that really can relate. I can’t do it on my own. I’ve tried so many times and failed.
Hey sober sister! Sometimes we have to learn the hard way and for the majority of alcoholics that's how it works. Everyone has a different bottom, mine was doing 92 days in jail for my 3rd DUI in 10 years. Thankfully I never injured anyone but you can only play Russian roulette so many times. Write down how alcohol makes your life better and how it makes it worse. AA literally saved my life. I agree with the comments about you reaching out, going to AA and when you go listen for the SIMILARITIES not the differences.
DUIs suck and it was scary and confusing for me. It was also a big gift. Got me back into the rooms and taking care of myself. I had to rely on other people and ask for help. Started me back in the right direction.
Get your milestone chips at meetings
Judges like chips and get a notebook have someone sign every meeting you have go to. If you are doing UAs make sure they are clean.
Girl this is scary and I’m so very overwhelmed. Thanks for the boost of confidence. I really do need it. What would help you the most when you got overwhelmed?
I’m scared of this.
Aww thanks At work want to chat later with ya.
