One week sober

7 days from the day I decided to change my life :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:
I’ve gone a week before plenty of times but never intentionally.
This is my first time realizing I want to change.

I have tried to stop drinking plenty of times and nothing changed until I really WANTED to! You got this! Don’t forget your self compassion

Welcome! Congrats on 7 days! What’s one thing you are doing that’s keeping you sober?

So far the motivation of having a better and more healthy and meaningful future has been on my mind each day. That’s been it. Since I am a weekend binge drinker I don’t feel the pressure of drinking everyday. I know I’ll get FOMO next time my friends go out.

I see. Getting sober for ourselves is a great start. I know I tried a few times for others. It doesn’t work. Once I did it for me it was a game changer.
How’s your belief in a higher power?

I don’t think you’ll regret your decision not to drink

I said something similar to my sponsor a couple weeks ago. I have never quit before, just times of not drinking. This is the first time I've ever quit, and I have meant everything I've said. Just under 6 mo this now and I'm feeling pretty good.

Keep coming back. Get a sponsor. Hang on.

We have the same sobriety date! Let’s ride this out!

Super proud of you

That’s awesome! We got this!

That resonates with me. I can’t wait until I’m at 6 months :medal_sports:
I have a sponsor in mind but I don’t want t to reach out to her until I have at least a month under my belt.

Yes, I really feel like it has to be for yourself. I have tried to find something that fits me spiritually. I went to church recently with a friend… no higher power resonates with me though. I have really been open to it and tried different avenues. I just don’t feel it

Why wait? Reach out to her immediately.

I also feel no "higher power" the way most speak of it. They all say it can be anything you want it to be, but in the end they all mean god. There are a lot of agnostic meetings around, not sure where you are located, but here in Cleveland I attend 3 agnostic meetings a week. We have bonfires and cookouts and stuff too. Great meetings focused on sobriety only and not sky gods.

I did the same thing. Had to prove to myself that I was serious about this before I told anyone.
