One week ๐ŸŽ‰

I made it my FIRST week. I canโ€™t take all the credit. I have to thank COVID for the last 4 days :joy: and of course you guys for all your encouragement. You rock!

Iโ€™ve been looking into some non alcoholic drink options but everything is so EXPENSIVE. They make trying to quit so hard when one bottle of non alcoholic beverages are more expensive than a 24-pack lol.

With that being said, spam me with all your go-to drinks.

Old faithful has been seltzer water with fresh muddled lime. When Iโ€™m out at a bar people think itโ€™s Titoโ€™s n soda so it helps to avoid the โ€œwhy arenโ€™t you drinkingโ€ convo. If you want something with a kick try a bullet coffee.

Dont thank covid, thank yourself. I saw so many people drink through having covid. Seemed to make it last longer in my opinion. As for mocktails? I had a Lavender lemondrop for new years eve.

Congrats on putting a week under your belt, we all know thatโ€™s not easy. All of our journeys to and through recovery will differ. There is no way I could have been out drinking mock-tails a week into sobriety. Iโ€™m at 8 months and Iโ€™m still not comfortable with the idea. The fact that your asking for help is great and shows your serious but make sure your ready to be out socializing already. Make sure you have a plan! Iโ€™m trying to hard not to tell you itโ€™s way too soon, thatโ€™s for you to decide.

I definitely donโ€™t want to be social. I would like something to try at home.

May I ask a question? If not for a social setting, why would you want an non alcoholic beverage like mocktails? For me, I would think that would lead me back to drinking. I only mention this, because I would hate to see that trigger you and lead you to a drink. Congratulations on the week by the way!

I like to drink and thought if I could find an alternative at home, Iโ€™d go for that. Also, Iโ€™d like to try a few things at home so I would know what to order when/if I ever do go out again.

If you go out, my experiences with bartenders has been great- some will make you a non alcoholic beverage based on what you like to drink- but I'd caution that as well bc you are trying to be comfortable not "drinking". For me, i changed my way of thinking, trying something new instead or what would be similar to a ___. Most restaurants I go to offer zero proof/NA libations on their menu. Going out doesn't have to be a chore unless you make it... I do most of the same things I have done drinking but without the drink. For home or gatherings-i like Gruvi and Lyre. I've heard great things about Ritiual and SEEDLIP, FRe and Proxies wines

Ginger beer is nice straight from the can or bottle. Not terribly expensive and goes great with a squeeze of lime.
