Please send prayers and support my way. I’m struggling terribly

Please send prayers and support my way. I’m struggling terribly with my addiction. I’m a alcoholic. I relapsed 6 months ago. I drink every day. Even when I don’t want to. I don’t drink at work but I’m pretty sure everyone knows I’m an alcoholic. I’ve gained so much weight and look like I’m pregnant. I’m supposed to be a leader. I’m the General Manager but it’s clear that I’m not all there. I waste so much money on alcohol. It’s the only thing I buy. I’m considering telling my boss. I feel like if I’m honest I could leave and go to rehab or at least be accountable. I’m only as sick as my secrets. One of the reasons I continue to drink because I think I’m hiding it. I know what I need to do, meetings, sponsor, etc. I don’t know what’s stopping me. Not looking for pity. I just tired of hiding.

Hang in there  could you go to HR and talk to them about that ? Can you get to a meeting today ?

I'm in HR...go to your doc not HR or your boss. I'm not always for telling bosses right away because you need time to gain confidence in sobriety first. If you did tell them and didn't get sober they have just cause to let you go depending on their policies. Go to doc and keep it confidential until you decide with them what course to take. 3 weeks sober and you won't look pregnant anymore. Big hugs. It's one day at a time. Do some AA online meetings. So much support. Message me if you want to talk. Ultimately all decisions are yours but just my 2 cents. I was an HR manager for years.

We all think we are hiding it but everyone knows something is up. Be kind to yourself and get help as soon as possible

Definitely go to a doctor first. If a stay in detox is necessary they may know the laws on fmla so you can get time off.

You are not alone. I've held leadership positions and feel like I am a fraud when I go home and drink for no reason. My confidence is shot because my drinking has caused my stomach and whole body to swell and bulge. You are not alone and you can do this. Today is my first full 24 hours you can do this too.

You got this! Admitting to yourself and others you need help is the first step. I relapsed about 5 months ago and decided to go to a treatment center for 30 days. Was the best thing I could have done for myself and may be something worth looking into. Know you are not alone and it will get better

The idea of rehab is scary but it literally saved my life. A safe space to get through the withdrawals under medical supervision and time to work on a recovery plan. If you can find a place covered by your insurance the doctor there will write a note for your HR dept. and HR is required by law to protect your privacy so your boss won’t know the details of your time off. Sending you strength and love
